Item Descriptions?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 9:53 am

In the tutorial section, the protagonist can comment on various items in the world.

"Nuka Cola... Ice cold."

"Sugar Bombs... 100% daily value of sugar."

Will this "examine" feature work on all items in the game? Or is this a tutorial-only thing?

And if not... might we get some flavor text or interesting descriptions for items in the inventory screen? Like, a sentence or two describing the item?

Probably only in the tutorial, or more likely only in the video, it would be hyper annoying if he talked about every items you did an mouseover on.

You might get some comment from him like you get from companions but not more.

On the other hand they created the population in Whiterun so they are good at create annoying characters.

"Hmmm...a Fatboy...Looks big."

"Radaway...Ugh, I hate needles."

"Jet. When you need that extra boost."

[scrap metal] "Junk."

[Human Skull] "...Murray?"

You'll probably only comment on the item if you activate it. That's what it looked like to me, anyway.

I'm 110% sure that was just what happens in the tutorial when you activate something since you haven't got an inventory yet.

Very good :) Now if he comment, "why is I checking all this empty boxes" and this sort of comments has an cool-down of say 8 hours gameplay that would be cool.

Hopefully that is the case and it is restrained in use.

However, this could be the return of "Flavor Text" to Fallout, where they can have the character think something to himself or say out loud a description of an environment or object. Like in Fallout 1 you could mouse-over a bed and get the description, "It's dirty. Really dirty. I wouldn't sleep on it."

It could be funny if they were GOOD and on a long cool-down timer. Like HOURS AND HOURS. But it could also be used for one time objects or scenes encountered.

I don't think I would enjoy a game that forced me to play as Jar Jar Binks.
