Before I ask a question, let me preface this by saying I want as little spoilers as possible but due to the nature of the post I have to post in this forum so please do not spoil anything not necessary for answering the question. My question is simple, if I accept Danse's offer to join the brotherhood, does that then lock me in on that path or can I defect if I want? I'm sure the brotherhood will be at war with the synths and though I'll probably side with the synths I haven't yet fully decided which way I'm going on this, my first playthrough, and I don't want to lock myself to brotherhood by accepting Danse's offer. So again, please don't spoil anything about the quest line itself in answering the question. I just need to know if I'm locked to brotherhood and thus at war with all synths if I accept Danse's offer.

Simply joining a faction does not lock you into or out of anything. Don't worry.
