I have the dad on guard tower duty and left the mother and daughter to groping the crops. Currently have around 8 settlers in total, but I can't assign any of them to the right side crops growing in the front. The left side shows up as having someone assigned, and so do the melons at the rear. But no mater how many times I try to assign a settler to the crops in the front right, they still show up as being unassigned. I've even tried assigning dad back to farming duties, but it's still not working.

Current food production is showing at 10, and it would be a little rediculous if I have to plant extra crops once I have 11 settlers. Technically there's already enough crops planted to easily feed +20 people. I'm on XboxOne.

1. pick all the crops.
2. sow the crops you just picked.
3. assign some settlers
4. solved

So there will be a few crops that technically don't assign?

Don't worry, carrots are cheap, so is dirt (as the expression goes).

Try removing the crops that your having issues assigning.

On PS4, hmm havent had this happen to me yet, but ill list somethings.
1.If you look at your settler while in workshop mode if they are currently attending any crops, they will be hilighted in the background.
2. I have found that you dont really need to assign them to farm as additional settlers will simply start working on whatever isnt occupied. AS LONG as it isnt a shop or scrap workstation.
3. Maybe the happiness is to low?? Doubt it

So theres some tips or ideas hope it helps.

I'm thinking you are trying to do the assignments early on, when there are just the three Abernathys. In which case they were already assigned to the crops. I'm thinking that you don't get the option to Assign a settler to a task that he is already performing.
