Graphicsmemory engine limitations.

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 4:25 am

Anyone care to speculate on how this new engine will perform? Going to be buying a new computer before this game comes out, and got to thinking about how much power will the engine be able to use.

Will it be limited in the memory it can use? (like skyrim)

Will it have multi-threading?

What sort of graphics card would work best on it? (Leaning towards a 980ti, but am curious still if the game will behave with sli/crossfire)

I'd have no idea about the first issue nevertheless if it was I'd assume a LAA would be released (by modders) post haste.

I'd hope that multithreading would be included even through it isn't the most CPU intensive of applications (I'd say its a likely assumption).

You'll honestly be set with a 980ti (provided that your not willing to go team red and get a possibly cheaper and better performing gpu) its running most 4k games at 40-50fps and from what we know in sli in most cases it running at a very nice 60fps (not in all games, mostly due to optimization).

It honestly doesn't seem that demanding, especially compared to newer open world games.

Im pretty sure any decent gaming PC built in the last couple of years will be able to run this just fine. Keep in mind that the new consoles are not some giant beast that requires a super computer to match, any decent "gaming PC" will be able to defeat Fallout 4, but I am sure you're like me and want your PC to devour Fallout 4 alive. The latest videocard range from either Nvidia or ATI should be enough. Im planning on getting a 900 series myself.

Ive had my current PC for 5 years with some videocard upgrades and the only game thats managed to humble it is Elite: Dangerous. I would say if you can completely wreck Elite: Dangerous with whatever machine you create, you should have no problem with Fallout 4.

You will need https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNS4t5UCBfI%C2%A0

Not exactly a hard drive guru, but those type of solid state drives are supposed to eat other types alive. Basically a ramdisk hard-drive.

I am a firm believer of doing overkill when you get a computer, that way your not forced to look at a new one for a *long* time.

I would be willing to bet, that a 1GB card will have a hard time with this game and possibly not be able to run it at all.

I also would be willing to bet that you will NOT need a 6GB card although you might gain a very small benefit from one.

Beyond that, it is too early to tell.

Yeah I'm in the same boat with a 7 year-old computer. 2.2 AMD quadcore, 5 gigs ddr2 ram, and a 1 gig Radeon 5700 graphics card. It plays Skyrim and older games just fine (sometimes with Skyrim it'll lag for about 2 seconds when an exterior cell has to load). But I don't think it'll do much more so I may need a new one for F04, but I've wanted a new one for awhile anyway so no big deal.

I was running a heavily modded Skyrim with an ENB at an acceptable frame rate, so I'm thinking I'll be okay with Fallout 4.

I'm waiting to try it out though, before splurging on a new video card.
