Better forested Solsteim?

Post » Fri May 28, 2010 2:23 am

I have looked through alot of mods(probably more then I care to recognize, hah) but just havent seem to have found one that adds more trees to Solstheim, I have seen the Skaal forest mod, but want one that adds more trees all over the place on that island. Can anyone point me to one?

I have seen that one, but no where is it said that it adds more trees, only replaces them.

If the purpose is to make the forest more dense (i cant think of any other reason to want more trees) my mod still kind of does the trick since the trees are much bigger and "leafier".

If you don't like vurts replacer, I don't know what you're looking for. Best tree mod ever! :foodndrink:

I had my first look at Solstheim with Vurt's tree mod installed, and I'd say the forest looks pretty dense now. At least compared to before.

Be careful what you wish for. For some reason, the pine trees in Solstheim can kill your frame rate if you get the density too high. I'd go for something like Vurt's trees that make them bigger, and bushier, rather than simply adding more of them.

I've got an area in my mod that faces a moderately dense forest, and in foggy weather, the frame rate drops to the mid-30's on a reasonably decent system. I may have to prune some of those trees to keep the frame rate up. (This is on an Athlon 64 X2 5600+ with a 9800 GTX+)

Yes I do realize the fact that adding more stuff can slow a system down, there is a reason I said try, that said, my computer will get an average of about 25-30fps with vality's bitter coast and bc sounds added, plus numerous other things which may of may not effect anything. In any case, if it effects it too badly i can just remove it.

Wow, those screenshots look awesome. My game's wilderness appearance remained untouched by mods so far, but looking at those I'm seriously thinking of changing it. Changing only one region might feel awkward ingame though.
I'll need to look at Vurt's other mods.

I'm not sure where I got these settings, I think they may be a combination of AnOldFriend's and Vurt's. Also don't copy the 'ambient loop sound ID' parts unless you're using Piratelord's Expanded Sounds.

They look okay during the day and night in general, but at dawn and dusk they're fantastic. I take most of my screenshots between 7-10 AM and 5-8 PM.
