So, What Is Wrong With Grey Garden?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:28 am

Grey Garden just does not seem to like me.

I've filled the thing with every single item that will fit, to the point that I am actually running out of room.

I've built a half a dozen multi story buildings JUST to hold all of the assorted Paintings and Signs, to the point that I actually RAN OUT OF WOOD. What else can I do for those @*$#^ Robots to keep them happy? Every one of their metrics (food, beds, etc.) is substantially exceeded. And still their happiness goes down and I have to run in and add another couple of stories to the building and put up another hundred pictures and signs. I've already sent out supply lines to all but one settlement (I ran out of open settlers to send). Anyone have any ideas about what I am doing wrong. This is the only settlement I have this problem with. None of the others need a fraction of this attention.

Umm,i'm pretty sure signs and paintings have no effect on happiness.None of my settlements have any and all are 80+ happiness =/

Beypond that i don't really know what could be wrong with yours. On mine i just have everyone assigned to beds, enough food, enough water and around 20 power(which powers some turrets). My defense numbers are always at least double food+water production, cause i like lots of guns.

Maybe also check to see if anything needs repaired,or some of your beds can't be gotten into?(placed too close to wall or other obstruction on each side...to be safe when i place beds i make sure there's enough space for me to walk alongside them, left and right, i know i've had occasions where npcs couldn't get to lie down in a bed, they just kept bumping into it trying to fit in) and they all grumbled about the bed situation next day and happiness took a small hit,i suppose even though robots don't sleep that it might still affect them.Other than that,i'm clueless :P

Thanks for the info on the Beds!

I had no idea this could be a problem.

It isn't in this case, but I see how it could develop in a few others.

As to the assorted wall decorations: They do indeed have a (comparatively small) effect on moral. Less than the big things, but can make up the difference between happy and unhappy. On of my biggest regrets, gamewise, was not taking a screenshot of my "Art Gallery" in Red Rocket.

I had put up a wooden building and wallpapered it with Kitten Pictures to make up for a moral shortfall. I came back a couple of days later to find the entire population clustered about the building, staring at the "art". Apparently they were just starved for culture.

I think the only surefire way to increase total happiness is ranked stores.

I think grey garden can never be happy.. robots cannot be happy and their hapiness doesnt matter.

Unless you also have humans living there.

I've barely touched Graygarden except adding enough turrets for defences and they are happy... What have you done to anger them? :P

I think the bar is the way to go. When you hover over it when building it shows that it increases the settlements happiness.

You may be right, all i know is i don't do decorations because they made no difference in my first settlement, and all my settlements now are at 80+ with what i mentioned above.I'll build some bars later and see if it pushes mine further.

Settlements have a bug where all the beds get unassigned and thus happiness goes down because the game acts like you have no beds even if you do.

Open up the build menu and manually assign people to beds, it will cause their happiness to go back up.
