Going Full Medieval like the proper new world man you are.

This is a thread on badassery. I'm not normally a fan on badassery, and tend to favour a degree of realism in my fantasy games. For fallout, I only care for realism when it's giving me badassery, because we're not supposed to take it seriously, we're supposed to be badass. Because fallout is a mix of pre-war technology, post war contraptions, and ancient world ideas.

Wear multiple weapons at once, rather than take them all out. Pistols, grenades and small melee in multiple holsters, bigger weapons on the back in sling. small weapons in pockets. Maybe we could have a bag to pull things out of too?

Putting gear you might use (grenades, extra weapons) on the outside of your power armour (because it's going to be awkward to equip them when they're on the inside.

Making weapons, Attaching weapons and extras to your power armour.

Inbuilt weapons; Spikes on the knuckles, The balistic fist from NV, Inbuilt wrist guns, Predator-like shouldercannon. A Pair of extra robotic arms. A flamethrower on the head so the player can pretend to be a dragon.

-Making a medieval greatsword, Knife, Machete, Chain-sword, pick-axe, Shield, Crossbow, lance or whatnot UPSCALED for the exclusive use of power armour (or Supermutants) would be pretty awesome.

-Spikes on the knees (a knee in power armour would be mighty effective. A kick might be dangerous unless it's low) Running into someone with power armour on is going to do some damage, and being spiked is going to do more.

-Tons of cosmetic features to attach tastelessly to your armour.

Skulls, Rags, Robes, loincloths, mantles, ponchos, strange wire cages that are oddly popular.

Badass weapon plans.

Proper swords/knives that you can customize. Pommel, hilt, guard, blade, possible device that turns it into a flame/electroblade, useless decoration, material. Make a realistic sword with appropriate mechanics, then set the blade on fire. Featuring:

Impaling mutants and Stabbing through armour. Take that, T-45b (probably not)

Slashing through un-armour

Pommel striking like a boss. Probably with crazy wasteland designs for ultra-dangerous pommeling.

Throwing (you can throw swords like javelins. True story. )

Dancing. Dancing with swords is the coolest of dances, Except perhaps for dancing with spears.

The junk launcer is pretty badass. The laser musket is pretty badass (an actual flintlock group of weapons would be moreso) but have you added the following?

Wrist mounted crossbows (the wasteland Essential)

Actual Crossbows (complete with crazy ammo types)

Bows

Throwing spears

Spears

Nailguns

Pepper spray

A whistle that summons death claws

Shields (not going to do much against a gun, and an energy weapon might just disintergrate it. But melee weapons which are very common will be saying bye-bye

tools with actual non-lethal function; Like a crowbar that can pry things, or wire cutters that can wire cut. Or surgeon tools that can surgeon.

Power tools. If I can't bring a jackhammer to a knife fight, I'm going to be disappointed. A lawnmower would be an acceptable substitute.

Dual wielding anything, Literaly anything, It could be fat mans for all I care, at the cost of all my accuracy. Using Two weapons in real life is stupid and nobody does it. You can't aim two guns at once, and the recoil isn't for a single wrist. But when things like deathclaws exist, you're going to want to put as much damage within a few metres in front of you

(for balance purposes: Aiming should be totally off the table, reloading becoming extremely difficult and taking at least twice as long for each gun. Also a melee strike is very likely to send both weapons clattering on the floor. It requires great strength to dual wield anything heavy. Also you cannot aim. If you plan to kill anything outside of five metres from you then you will fail with all the misses (unless you're fighting a group in a confined area with a pair of fat mans) Melee attacks do less damage, are varying degrees slower, the weapons are likely to be lost and you're never going to crit.

Throw equipped weapons like a boss (i.e Really hard)

Make traps, place traps. This isn't even a fort thing. This should be something you can do anywhere. Point a shotgun at a door and have a tripwire trigger it. I'm sure the local sheriff will appreciate your comedy.

Melee combat with a ranged weapon. I know we got bayonets, but howabout some punches, some kicks, some pistol whips and rifle butting. Knock things out so that you can tie them up and bring them home.

Make a suit of accurate medieval armour. (plate or splinter) Possibly with future materials.

Become a cyborg. Fallout 1 and 2 were full of characters with strange eye attachments and goggles and stuff.

I woudnt mind having a weapon system that allowed me to carry a two handed rifle on a sling while also having a sidearm pistol in a holster on the hip for easy switching, do i doubt it. We are probaly getting the "He pulled a fat-man out of his underwear" thing again ;)

Something pseudo-historical like tribals or caesar's legion... okay... I wouldn't be against pseudo-medieval armor or weapons... but please no real medieval weapons in fallout...
