PTSD from too much fighting?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 6:22 pm

It could be really neat if there was a robust system to keep track of the characters sanity and mental health that could lead to a good variety of outcomes and considerations (dialog and otherwise), but I don't think Bethesda's up to it (and it would interfere with the highly advertised "player freedom" because it would force an effect on the character, much complaining would ensue).

Voted depends on the implementation. Lots of things can go wrong with lack lustre design.

I would suggest that you drop this particular topic. I am a veteran, and I find your attitude here HIGHLY offensive. If you haven't been in the military, haven't been in combat, then you have ZERO idea of what you are talking about, and I don't care what GAMES you have played that tried to do something with it. This is an EXTREMELY sensitive topic to some, and your treatment of it is, quite frankly, insulting.

Didn't realize it was going to be so controversial when I posted, so mod lock this topic.

So you think someone who's gone through combat, or something highly traumatic, and been effected by it, is a pansy? PTSD shouldn't be in a game, because it's something serious that cannot be portrayed well at all, in games, but not because someone is "pansy". Learn to be more mature.

Maybe not 'controversial', but, most certainly 'touchy'. :D

There's an old adage that states, "Too much realism spoils the fun." Whether it is getting dysentery from the contaminated water, getting arm cramps from constantly holding your weapon up in front of you as you run across the Wastes, or having your weapon/power armor randomly malfunction based on your luck score (hey - it's old, it's mostly jury-rigged, etc. It's gonna malfunction), it adds in more complexity without a high enough "fun" payoff to be worth it for the base game. Now, if someone wants to mod those sorts of things in...and some do...they can. But it's not worth putting in the base game.

Not an idea I would like to see implemented into this or any game.
