Just a really quick question

Post » Fri May 28, 2010 1:51 pm

This isn't really bugging me so much, but it's enough to make me want to post about it.

I know that Brink will have 8 or so accents, but I'm just curious as to whether or not there is a variety within those accents. I have read Horse's Compendium quite a few times and have seen quite little mentioned about accents, so I'm not really expecting to hear any more about it from your guys here.

An example would be me playing with 7 of my friends. If all of our characters chose the "British" (taken from the very out-dated character customization video) accent pack, then would each of us be running around the battlefield crying "I need ammo!" In the exact same voice? Or would there be a regional kind of thing, seeing that Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales are in this group? Not that I'm focussing this question on just Britain of course.

So I'm assuming this will turn into more of a discussion about voices than a direct Q and A, but it'll be interesting anyway.

So, im just trying to really clarify what your question really is. What im getting is your asking if the 'British' accent (for example) will be just British or if you will be able to pick say 'Scottish' as sub-category?
Is this your question?

There are 8 accents, they all speak English, but I think it's mixed with native words sometimes. There's certainly a Jamaican accent. So these 8 accents will offer a variety. Please be happy that there are accents, unlike in other games where everyone has the same voice anyways.

There are no accents within accents for as far we know.

I think what he's trying to say is if there is a team full of British people playing, all differently customized, will there voice all be the same saying the same lines?

Voice will all be the same unless youve picked another type of voice.. if everyones picked British then everyone will sound the same.. If you run out of ammo and the guy next to you also runs out... You guys will probably sound the exact same... its not really a big issue, in fact youll probably forget about it 20 mins into the game. Also like it was said earlier, ATLEAST there are different voices to even choose from...

I bet having only 8 sets to choose from that there's 3 or so random banks to keep it fresh during play.

Exactly what I was looking for.

You're right, it really doesn't bother me much and I won't notice it at all when I'm playing. Just wanted to sort it out.

No, I hang around a lot on the forums, I read every piece of information and I answered or discussed a lot of things before. There are people fortunate enough to have played to game at one of the expos. I'm sadly enough not one of them.

I hope people don't mind that I'm posting another question, but seeing as it is my thread...

I have (and I'm sure many of you have too) seen the PAX gameplay vid, which will be instantly recognized by the phrase "Jolly! JOLLY!". I'm just wondering why the video is cut off at around the 4 minute mark? Anyone know?

End of the stage demo perhaps? We got a lot of information out of that vid when it came out (How the HUD looks, how it looks when you get revived, soldiers having the ability to hand out armor piercing rounds) I guess they didn't want to reveal more info.

Oh yes. I got lots of new yummy stuff to drool over from that video.

I have a love/hate relationship with SD. I hate them for not releasing stuff frequently, but I love the genius of keeping the fans wanting more.

I know how you feel.

I hope we get some voice packs DLC, or just a free patch.

I was going the say about the same. If SD put some effort into the voices (which I hope they do), then they will most likely end up with a similar quality voice acting like TF2; in which the announcer-lady for example has http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vq3tXadahs to unleash upon the players.

In previous games there were different phrases for each action. F.e. I need ammo, running low on ammo, I'm out. Same goes for announcer voices, even though they didn't had the same level of variety.
