Super Mutant Dogs ?!

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 4:22 pm

Reviewing the concept art, there's a scene that seems to depict two Super Mutants with a big mutant Bulldog looking animal with them.

In one of the game play previews, there's what appears to be a dead bulldog thing on the ground by a bridge that appears to have a train or odd looking truck on it.

Erm, so, does this look like there's going to be super mutant dogs to anyone else?

Can you provide direct links to the images you're referring to? It'd be much easier to discuss this with you if we knew what you were talking about.

I'd love to, but, when I try to post link, it says I'm not allowed.

Otherwise, I think I provided some key points to locating the footage in the videos; concept art, and bridge with odd train or truck on it, considering.

Apologies for super-newb on this forum.

I'm not so sure that that's a dog.

Huh. That actually looks like a dog. I thought for sure that it would be a centaur.

Looks more like a giant mole rate to me. I mean, look at the mouth, how round it is.

I think you're on to something there. The color matches, the teeth are exactly matching but it is somewhat close to the new molerat models in the premiere game play, and new molerats have longer tails.

So, it could definitely be a molerat - which is sort of weird.

Well, molerats could be tamed to certain degrees - like that molerat in the miner settlement in FO:NV...

It would be plausible that super mutants could do that too...

I'm all for the prospect of having more mutants and a game famously featuring mutation. We've got plentiful radiation, the fev virus and inbreeding that should offer plenty opportunity for graphic artists to do their "magic" and step away from the picture perfect model bodies.

It's always jarring to walk the wasteland, kill some raider, loot 'em and they look like they stepped out of a gym and haven't missed a well-balanced meal in years. Yeah, wasteland.

While that's true, that would also require an intelligent super mutant which are very hard to come by. Could be another
"master" situation where the mutants are being lead by one intelligent being (mutant or otherwise).

Well, we've seen regular dogs. We've seen robo-dogs. We've seen the FIDO gun.

What's to say there aren't mutant dogs?

What's to say there weren't more locations than are in the lore known so far that we don't know of yet that were doing research with FEV, and potential military application mutations?

There was a giant bat looking thing in the concept art too, as well as a two headed reindeer. Perhaps we'll get a two headed, or mutant Santa for Wild Wasteland to go with the reindeer.

I'm fairly certain there's room for mutant dogs, and tons of other mutant animals; whatever Bethesda feels will be fun to throw in the game, whether or not it makes sense.

If there's no mutant dogs, then, eh, ah well. If there is, then, there is. :D

If you look closely, however, the animal in the picture has pointed, fox-like ears and multiple short, pointed teeth. Molerats have been depicted as earless with two extremely large, blunt teeth. Not to mention this thing appears to be bigger than your average molerat.

The ears do muddle the molerat argument, but the teeth look close enough to the new models - Beth added more teeth to the molerat's mouth. As for the size, the molerats in F3 and FNV were quite large. Rewatching the F4 premiere trailer, it looks like the molerats actually vary in size some. To me, it's close enough for me to think that a molerat is plausable, but also different enough to where I honestly think it's something else.

Found one what? I don't see anything in good enough detail to make a conclusion about.

----- EDIT ------

OIC. That does look like a severely mutated bulldog. Too bad we don't see the front :/

Also, it's at 8:26 for those wondering.

That's a Centaur from Fallout 1 and 2. They're highly mutated humans, failed FEV experiments.

They are mixed being, part dogs, part human, part other stuff and they are loyal to super-mutants.

The super-mutants equivalent of a dog.

Yes, a centaur, and the Chimera from FO1, and FO2, as well as what's appeared in FO3, and FONV is something most of us are quite familiar with.

This, however -

That aint that. There's a pretty big difference in appearance and symmetry. It doesn't match up with speculation on molerat, and it doesn't resemble the molerat queen that vomits acid depicted in the concept art and was labelled as the molerat queen also.

It resembles a large mutant dog, and it's in the company of super mutants.

It would make sense for it to be a super mutant dog.

Is Bethesda allowed to give us new animals and enemies along side the old ones?
