optional options are a little confusing at the end

Ok so I have had to restart a lot at the end, once was my bad, but the other times the optional stuff wasn't clear on what you were actually about to do, I know who I'm trying to side with, but when the optional says warn x faction and it means help defend y with the help of x faction it's confusing and a little immersion breaking and here is why...
I would WARN everyone I could, if it had implied I would be doing anything other than warning I would have played differently and made educated and informed decisions about who I was going to. Instead it has been a nightmare of save and reload once I find out what the real mission objective is, which means a lot of 'oops didn't realise that's what was going on sorry just ignore what I just said, I have to...uhhh... go..now' situations that just feel awkward.
If it was little tidbits here and there that changed the outcome this wouldn't be a big deal, but these are major decisions that clearly are going to change the outcome so why the cloak and dagger phrasing of the missions?
I really loved the game up until this point, I can get past animation and performance issues but worrying that I'm doing the wrong thing because of mission phrasing is dumb.

If it says warn X faction, it seems fairly obvious that you would be going back against Y faction, just sayin'
