The Fable series did this. Die, get a scar. I'd just reload from my last save if that happened.
Scars are fine, but make them part of character customization.
God, the first game was terrible. They did that prison timeskip (was just a couple years, right? been so long), and all of a sudden changed your character to look like a 60-year-old greyhaired dude. Instant decrepit. Ugh. Especially dumb in that everyone else in the game stayed the same.
Well that's the problem with vanity in a post-apocalyptic setting. The only person concerned about vanity when everyone was worried about survival was Bittercup. Sometimes you have to ditch what is pretty for what is practical.
I'd like it to be a toggle option (for those that want their characters to stay as designed), but I'd love to have it. I can only imagine what Kaelyn (my FO:NV lass) would look like after all the hell she went through if it had a system like this. Cybernetic replacement parts, surgery scars, plasma burns, bullet holes..
Oh, and on that note: Please let us actually get cybernetic parts! We're in Boston, damn it, it'd actually make sense here.
Fable 2 was terrible, I hate how you gained devil horns when you were evil. And the co-op svcked. I hope Bethesda doesn't take that path.
