Low Int Dialog options?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:12 am

With a voice acted PC, will low intelligent characters still have seperate options? Will NPCs say react differently to low int characters?

How many of you make low int characters ? (I ususally make one around my 3-4 play through, just to laugh at some of the options).

I dont see why we wouldn't have them. In FO3 the NPCs would say unique lones if we had low INT no reason we wouldn't have its counterpart.

I believe Todd said in an interview about having 6 different personalities recorded so maybe that's one of them

Also how large and hard would it be to record stuff like: "I like boom", "me lost", "hur?", "me kill now", etc

Maybe not given how the SPECIAL system functions differently here. The scale may still be 1 to 10 but five does not seem to be average. As I recall from the trailer if you distributed the special points evenly you'd end up with a 4 in everything.

I really hope we have them but the voiced protag thing is making me wonder whether they'll record low int dialogue or not.

I really hope that there is low INT dialogue because I'm going for a "dumb" playthrough my first time around. Since INT only governs how much XP you gain instead of the amount of skillpoints, I don't really see the need to have it at 9 like I usually do.

I dunno it sounds pretty weird for your character to talk normally during the character creation and pre-war intro only for him to all of a sudden go derp once that Vault-tec agent asks to confirm your information unless your character starts talking stupid after the bombs which could be explained by the cryogenics/cybernetic/whatever messing your brain up during the 200 year span. Also I don't remember, but is 3 INT considered low enough for your character to go hurr durr in previous games?

It would be funny to hear Courtenay Taylor talk like a moron but I honestly think the ~13,000 lines per actor seems to small to include low int dialog.

"Nuka-Cola. Ice cold," makes me think that the PC doesn't start perfectly alright in the head...

i dont think they will do this if only because of the low special. before we could max out what we want and still have points to put into intellect now we cant have everything so a number of people will have low int only because it doesnt effect combat only exp. my guess is that their would be complaints from people who feel they have to gimp their characters just to hear normal dialogue

Damn...

Personally I think 3-5 INT should have you sound like a idiot while 2 and 1 would be you sounding like caveman, but I guess that might be too much work.

Also when talking to Codsworth after he comes out of the vault, it almost seemed like Howard forgot what food was.

I want to see you after 200 years sleep and found out that everything's dead. The whole world you know destroyed. Your family probably dead... and a robot who's telling you 200 years have passed...

I think their response will have a bit more emotion behind it than "What...food?"

No.

Nothing confirmed of course, but I sincerely doubt it. Why?

1) It would be much, much harder to include with voiced dialog.

2) It would be much, much harder to include with the new dialog system.

3) SPECIAL scores default at 1, not at 5. The game gives the impression that instead of 1 being "jesus christ you're awful at this," 1 is the new standard and anything above it is amazing. In New Vegas for example, 3 and below counted as low intelligence. If this same standard were to apply to FO4, then people would complain that 3 of their 21 points must go to intelligence to avoid idiot dialog. A standard of 2 or below is also a bit odd. Main thing is that in past Fallouts, you only got idiot dialog for lowering your intelligence score. Now? Lowering is impossible, so the game would basically be forcing you to at least spend one point in intelligence to avoid it. Possible? Yes. Likely? I don't think so.

I'm in agreement with Longknife here. I believe that an 'average' SPECIAL value is no longer 5, but more likely represented by 2 or 3, with 1 just meaning a below average rating, but not necessarily a detrimentally low rating.

I'm generally of the opinion that low INT characters are too stupid to survive in the wasteland, but darn it if their dialogue doesn't have its amazing moments. I remember in New Vegas, at the REPCONN headquarters, a security robot asks for the password, and a low INT character guesses, correctly, "Ice cream".

Nah, I roleplay to escape from my IRL inadequacies.

[but that was actually pretty funny. I heard Fallout 1 & 2 were the ones who had the special low int dialogue primarily so I never really bothered. Plus I like skill points]
