Dunwich Borers - Well done Bethesda, that was beyond creepy

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 1:31 am

I was sent there to "clear the raiders" . It was a large dam, and I was able to easily snipe most of them from high up above, then I climbed down and finished off the stragglers.

Why oh why didn't I just turn around and go home? The quest was marked as complete by then. No, I had to go and explore further to see where it took me. Besides, you had to explore every nook and cranny to find all the magazines, right?

Well, that was a very unique experience. I'm not going to spoili it because it's a very unique level compared to the others. It reminded me of the good ol times playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R., or more recently, the Metro series. Very well done Bethesda.

Also...

Spoiler
You do NOT manipulate objects around me without my touching it, unless there is a Daedra involved! No way, Bethesda, no how! nope.jpg ! You cannot create a game world for us to enjoy and immerse ourselves in, and then break the rules yourself!

The Dunwich building was easily the creepiest place in the base Fallout 3 (Point Lookout is another story...) Glad to hear they're keeping that tradition alive.

Can't wait to visit it.. Or maybe I can.

Hehehe. All I did was clear the raiders and went home. Had a grand and cocky time of doing it too, though on very hard it was actually a bit dangerous at times outside

I think had they not named it "Dunwich Borers" it would have caught me off guard, but I saw "Dunwich" and was expecting it.

nah this was no where near as creepy or scary as the dunwich building in fallout 3 which was unexpected and dark as all hell. despite the addition of the flashbacks and lights turn off the new ghoul system, it didnt have the same effect on me that 3 had. for one the moment the lights went off i was able to turn them straight back on while the ghouls where still waking up

Yeah, the real shock surprise of the situation would have been greatly helped if they hadn't named it "Dunwich".

That said, it was a well done place and the unique item you can acquire (Assuming you're willing to go get it) is definitely in keeping with the theme of the place.

They could have name it something else. Dunwich Borers sounds a lot like Dunwich Horrors.

Did you got that epic sword at the end though? It's completely worth going through all of that crap cause honestly, that sword is probably one of the best melee weapons you can get, and it looks wicked as hell.
