PA quite weak?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 1:31 am

I seem to be still taking more damage than I thought I would be in a Mk VI X-01 with T-51f legs.

Anyone else think it's quite weak?

I think its ridiculously overpowered compared to what it used to be, personally.

I'm rocking fully upgraded X-01 (with fully upgraded T-51 legs), and I'm taking a lot of damage still. I'll make a little bomb room and run some tests.

You're not going to be immune, but you will certainly survive situations that will have outright gibbed you without it.

So I created an enclosed sqaure "bomb room", and using bottlecap mines, tested this out.

Bottlecap mine in one corner, me in the diagonal corner, shoot, boom!

w/o PA 100/116 DR, 200HP DMG

With PA 1720/1350 DR, still 100HP DMG.

So despite having an extra 1500 DR, still 100 HP DMG.

Likely there is a cap for the amount damage resistance and possibly some bleed-through damage or diminutive returns for higher amounts of resistance to balance out PA especially on the higher difficulties.

I don't know if it's "weak" per se, but I find myself worrying about it more when I use it. I hardly use it at all, but the few times I have it just adds to my stress because I hate the repair mechanics so I don't want to have to fiddle with it later. I think maybe I just need to spend a little more time with it.

My thoughts also. Skyrim also had the same mechanic, IIRC.

Maybe someone from the PC master race could confirm?

I give Super Mutant Suiciders hugs and mostly ignore the cover system in my X-01 Mk VI, so I think its quite fine in terms of strength.

Fallout 3 and NV also had caps on damage resistance, it was around 80-85%

I rarely use it but feel damn near invincible in the stuff, and I'm still using the first set you find in the Minute Men mission, no upgrades.

mate I think you calculate it wrong.

infact there is no way to calculate it right - unless you will have someone shooting a specific spot on your body over & over.

when an explosion hits you, it's AOE - infact you take most of the damage I assume on your legs because your bomb room is flat, right?

go look at the resistances of your armor on your body parts, it is not 1k on one limb, it's total. and total resistances is very awkward in F4.

what you should do is run in naked with no resistances but a lot of hp. then do it with normal armor and then do it with power armor.

Also some weird [censored] happens when you enter power armor, go check your special & resistances - you lose your normal gear when you enter power armor xD

I think Power Armor is way overpowered.

I'm in un-modified T-60 at level 31 and can walk up to anything and emerge victorious. I've literally had 2-3 mini-nukes in one battle hit me and I still won (Gunners).

It needs nerfed imho.

I stand still and face tank everything in my semi-modded T-60, i have taken mini-nukes to the face and barely got scratched.

Depends on your difficulty.

I'll still get gibbed in my X-01 if I eat a nuke or get caught out by some heavier armed enemies without any cover around.

On survival that is.

Doing it loud is more fun than cheesing the game with broken easy stealth

The power armor is worth it for sure, most people think its over powered, I think its just right.
