Mods coming to xbox-

I'm fairly certain that Bethesda said that curration was going to be kept at a minimum. As in removing things that are illegal or break copyright laws or possibly breaks the rules that Microsoft set. That really only applies to a small percentage of mods that get made. So there will most likely be a great deal of mods available for the Xbox. And if it breaks the game? They're prepared to let that happen. That's the entire reason that the game will back up your save with a non-modded version. If your mod breaks your game, you go back to the unmodded save and keep going.

Also, it's likely that all mods will require a .esp and a .bsa. Anything that involves scripting outside of the native script, like the script extenders, will probably not work.

I'm sceptical if they will even allow additional resources like new textures and meshes on the console. Those are a minefield of issues for weaker systems, and we don't know what effect they will have on the consoles yet. While you can limit texture size easily, how do you police the complexity of meshes?

It's why I believe that they'll go for ESP-only mods on console, using only base resources. Which you can still do a lot with, but you wouldn't see 90% of what PC modding offers. On the other hand, the fact that they added a BSA system for Skyrim's mod packaging suggests they're at least willing to entertain user-created resources, so who knows.

Would be interesting to see what licensing restrictions that resource creators might put on their mods. "Not to be used on console mods" would be a powderkeg of bad feeling.

Maybe, but if I created an UHD texture pack, I would be inclined to put that restriction on it.

As long as I get my Companion, weapon, texture, enemy, and quest mods, I could care less. Cause that's all the mods I want.
