Please allow clothingarmor be customizable like power armor

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 7:17 pm

Seeing the way you could customize the power armor looked amazing, I would love it if that is how it worked not only for power armor but also for regular clothing/armor as well.

Where you don't simply have an :outfit" but it's broken down into shirt/pants, shoes/gloves (each separate for left/right side). Where we can then mix-match what we want to wear, dye the clothing/armor, etc.

I love going for a Mad Max style outfit, see:

https://www.google.com/search?q=mad+max+outfit&biw=1600&bih=750&tbm=isch&imgil=5c56TDhlv-0ZCM%253A%253BLr4MDVzEuRbGYM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.filmjackets.com%25252Fforum%25252Fviewtopic.php%25253Ft%2525253D38&source=iu&pf=m&fir=5c56TDhlv-0ZCM%253A%252CLr4MDVzEuRbGYM%252C_&usg=__cCOSjMJUe5OrTQB-GOYei6T3thI%3D&ved=0CCsQyjc&ei=FZqLVdjgEYarNr6DveAG#imgrc=FuLiMh93AwfpoM%253A%3BWh5SaUAuyRCASM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252F3.bp.blogspot.com%252F-VHJhRj7X8rs%252FUQ740zj6j1I%252FAAAAAAAAWfk%252FgRvhgZ-7t34%252Fs1600%252Fmadmax2-dog.jpg%3Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fforums.uberent.com%252Fthreads%252Fbikers-veteran-outfit-wip.45221%252F%3B600%3B400&usg=__cCOSjMJUe5OrTQB-GOYei6T3thI%3D

Where it has an asymmetrical design, being able to mix/match clothing and have thing son one side vs not having them on the other side would be great.

We saw that we could modify the vault suit, we are likely to be able to modify other clothes and armors too.

However I guess we still have one pieces suits we adds stuff to, even shoes is part of this, then they changed outfits fast you was wearing high heeled shoes with the dress, indicating that they are part of outfit.

This is just fallout tradition, where had been no issues separating out shoes and gloves at least for most outfits (not power armor, rad or space suits.)

There's really not too much information on this but from what we saw the armor itself is represented by pieces you attach to your body, separately rather than put on the full suit. As far as the outfit you wear underneath well, I don't know if the vault suit is optional or not. I expect it to be. Until Bethesda releases more information it's just speculation.

The E3 showcase showed us a variety of...let's say "underwear" (The tux, dress, a few other things) clothing options that we could dawn, and then use a layered armored system on top of that similar to what TES III: Morrowind did. I expect just about any kind of clothing article can be worn, so I don't think its something worry about too much. Whether or not we'll have proper non-powered armor armor (at least in the sense that Morrowind had armor sets) is another story. As others said, we don't know much about it.

You were able to do that in Skyrim so it's not unheard of from them *fingers crossed*

True, however the easiest way to do it would be to modify the armor by adding parts to it, then you can swap it with other armor.

Kind of how the weapon modification is done,

No skyrim had just body, gloves, boots and helmet. Oblivion had top and bottom in addition to body, ESO has top and bottom where robes goes over bottom, it adds belt and tabard, this is just for show, still its partial layered. Morrowind was fully layered clothing top and bottom, armor top, bottom, left and right arm, right and left glove, boots and helmet, you could then add an skirt and an robe on top.

Don't think it works exactly like that. Well, at least not like the power armor and weapons. Basically like Morrowind, as someone already said, you equip the parts directly on your character being able to switch between them at will, unlike the power armor and the weapons which require to be prepared in specific locations (crafting table).

Yeah you can wear those, but can you wear armor over them?

I don't particularly see why you couldn't, since that strikes me as an arbitrary limitation. Arguably the "outer" armor is equipped separately from what you're wearing underneath, so you could pretty much swap out any look you want, even if some look very silly.

We find out later, either option is decent enough, underwear with armor pieces attached or armor slots.

One option in power armor is to simply disable other armor while inside. you only uses the power armor stats.

There was a whole sequence at beginning of the combat montage that showed a plethora of different outfits, including a dress. That implies to me that it will indeed be layered, with a base suit of clothing with armour pieces over the top. From the menus when he was talking about the layered armour system it looked like there was four or five slots to layer onto your character, likely different areas such as legs, left should, etc. Whether those individual pieces are customisable or upgradeable I don't know.

From what I saw with the Pip-Boy, it may be possible to customize parts of other armors, because the PIp-Boy had details for each limb of light combat armor in one scene.

You're able to paint the PA at least. If you look at the scene with the pa customizing you can clearly see a list of "paint jobs", plus it shows the torso with flames

If it isn't in, I'm sure it would actually be a fairly easy mod to make, seeing as the piecemeal armor is going to be in place. Converting the armor layer to the under layer *hopefully* wouldn't be too hard

One thing to keep in mind is that foot gear is (apparently) a single piece. It makes sense, I think, as few people would wear mismatched foot gear.

In that case its no reason not to have painting all over, its always far harder to add an feature than to expand it.

Who the HELL are you to make such a request!? >:( >:( >:(

Oh sorry. I was just quoting the guy in that other thread >:D

Anyway, layered clothing is great. It'd be nice to have different holster types as well that affect weapon draw speeds or possibly walking speed.

Mix and match different pieces rather than it being one complete set like in Fallout. It might be more limited than Morrowind where you could have your left shoulder pauldron different from your right one and mix your gloves and such but it's more recent and probably a better indication of the kind of thing we can expect. The only thing I'd want upgraded is being able to choose pants and tops separately.
