Unequippingre-equipping reloading exploit

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:53 pm

As everyone here is well aware of, in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, weapons were automatically full loaded upon equipping them, with the exception of recharger weapons, meaning you could unequip and re-equip a weapon to bypass reloading. Anyone else hoping that Fallout 4 will keep track of how many shots are in a weapon's magazine even when it's not equipped?

http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/48242/? If necessary I'm sure it can be re-made in FO4

Yeah, i use a mod for that too. Though a simpler one: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/37090/?

But since they have consulted id, i'm sure this is in the game to begin with this time.

Personally, I don't really care. I certainly never took deliberate advantage of it (just like I never did the "wait an hour for Full Heal" thing, not in OB/FO3/SK/FONV). I suppose it may have come into effect when I changed to a different weapon in the middle of combat, but like I doubt I switched weapons often enough in any one fight for it to make a difference.

Huh. "Disables automatic reloading".... does that mean it also doesn't reload when you empty the clip and go to fire again?

I'd rather not have to reload at all. Just a constant stream of bullets and explosions, with enemies jumping into them and [censored] blowing up. Think of the carnage. Like michael bay on speed with dual shoulder mounted fatboys.

I hope we get unlimited ammo.

If Fallout 4 is supposed to be a Shooting Simulator instead of... well, Fallout? Then it would matter to me.

But it isn't a Shooting Sim.

Yes both of the mods that were listed will stop auto-reloads (except in vats), and keep track of how many bullets you have in each gun when you swap weapons. So if you empty your clip you gotta hit your reload button before you can shoot again... I find it a lot more fun, especially with another mod that increases gun jams on weapons that are in very poor condition. Makes fights way more interesting, and re-enforces the idea of keeping your gear in tip-top condition.

These mods arn't going to be everybodies cup of tea, but I don't think I could play without them. :)
