Could vault 111 be some kind of military vault?

may just be reading to deep into this, but i noticed that right when you get your pip boy you have some grenades, a sniper, and a laser musket. before in the character creation the wife says something like "you'll knock 'em dead at the veteran's hall tonight." Maybe that's why you get a spot in the vault, because your in the military?

of course, those weapons could just be there to show off those fancy-pants new 3d models for items in the pip-boy.

That is my guess. I'm surprised that there haven't been more military vaults. Mariposia is kinda one by accident. With the fact that they are built as a fail safe for a war it would make sense for the government to try to save some troops in reserve for the aftermath.

Pretty sure you can feel safe in saying at least one of the possible characters has a military background.

If my guess is right, and vault 111 is north of Concord and Sanctuary Hills is in the Minuteman National Park,I think that Sanctuary Hills itself might have been a neighbourhood built for the China-US war veterans, and vault 111 itself a shelter built for the elite military of the US.This makes me think that perhaps the cryostasis pods were built for the veterans,so that they would be available for duty the day the Vault door would have opened before the hostile wasteland above it.

I'd laugh my ass of if you're actually a Chinese spy, and that you were literally going to the meeting to "knock them dead".

I like this notion. It would be a safe be that those with military experience would get preferential treatment, regarding vault placement. So why not a vault to house them for "backup" if needed. Possibly those in an inactive reserve status?

Yeah, why train soldiers underground when you can just put the veterans in a freezer and defrost the when things go south?

I'm almost sure that Sanctuary hills is in the Minuteman National Park.In the shot where the base defenses flame the raiders you can see the statue of the minuteman in the background.

Makes sense. Preserve veteran military personnel for later usage. Yeah I can buy that.
