Games crashes on start-up.

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 6:44 pm

Launcher runs fine, can modify everything in options fine but when I got play? That's when the $60 worth of game falls through the hole. So I hit play and a black screen appears for less than a second and disappears. Says the game is running while this happens then says it's not. I've tried everything. Updating the game is what caused this problem and I updated my graphics drivers post error. But still not working and I want my $60 worth of game [censored] it!!

Same issue here, although I don't even get to the intro, happens like the OP - start from launcher, black screen, then crash. A friend mentioned that it has to do with the nvwgf2umx.dll file being the culprit, and to reinstall drivers but ensure that file is deleted first and/or removed from system32.

Going to give that a try, but as it stands, support has not been helpful - the FAQ said to update then submit a ticket, submitted a ticket and they directed me to the FAQ and 'feedback'.

Here's my event viewer information - see if yours says the same (run event viewer, under Windows Logs -> Application):

Same thing but the faulting module is the "fallout4.exe". Have deleted many things and verified file integrity many times. Ending result is fallout4.exe messing up. I have the steam version and I'm about to demand my money back.

Make sure you don't have "crapware" running. It's all kind of software which hooks in to game process and graphics for certain purposes. List of such things is huge, they are released too frequent, damn it. Afterburner, D3D Overrider, EVGA tools, GeForce experience (i'm serious), Steam overlay, RadeonPro, Razer and Logitek backgorund processes, lot more than that. As for drivers, too old can't work with the game, at least for NVidia, because of bug in renderer, dunno what about AMD. And disable Avast if you have it.

Sometime even clean installs have something from drivers (utils from drivers). Guys, post screenshots of of processes in task manager with checked box "for all users", it will be simpler for me to find there crapware.

This isn't a "crapware" issue. Many of us were running the game just fine before the 1.1.30 patch.

I'm having the same issue since the day-one patch. What's funny, is I can see the game running by looking at the window peek from Windows Aero. It just won't allow the game to open and display it's own window. I'm using Windows 7, btw.
