Mix and match armor is confirmed but what about clothing?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 3:01 pm

Something that has been bugging me since the gameplay trailers was the possibility of clothing still being a one slot item as so far clothing has not been shown as mix and match yet beyond hat and full body.

Gonna be hoping for mix and match clothing too but its got me worried that its only armor that is mix and match.

Seems like it's just armor for now, but, it wouldn't be difficult to mod in piecemeal clothing now.

I'm pretty sure they're treating armor as something you wear over clothing, so you only have one base layer of clothing, but six pieces of of armor that can go on top of it. Frankly, I don't care that much about the clothing. As long as I can make an armored tuxedo or pre-war suit, I'll be quite happy.

Armor and clothing where always managed very similar in BGS games. I don't expect that to change. So need to worry.

this.

Anxious for a mod that add vera's dress

the female version is awesome and the male version is freaking funny and my personal favorite. I build a dandy char in NV once just to wear this clothes.

I'm sure it will be similar to Morrowind since they already know how to implement that system.

If the clothing is one piece sets. There better be clothing similar to the Raider armor from FO3. This whole full jacket or long sleeve shirt with full jeans or cargo pants is meh. The Raider Badlands armor for female was a Favorite of mine. Just a tank top with Daisy Dukes. Perfect imo. Now it looks like a tank top and full cargo pants. (Girl in the arena) Surely it won't just be an influx of leather armor everywhere. Naughty nightwear NEEDs to be in-game too.

I'm assuming they are bringing the old Morrowind system back from the looks of it. To give you an idea:

Helmet OR Hat (Armor or Clothing but not both)

Cuirass (Armor)

Shirt (Clothing)

Left P. (Armor)

Right P. (Armor)

Left Glove (Armor or Clothing but not both)

Right Glove (Armor or Clothing but not both)

Pants (Clothing)

Greaves (Armor)

Boots (Armor or Clothing but not both)

Ring 1 (Clothing)

Ring 2 (Clothing)

Amulet (Clothing)

So you should be able to wear some clothes under your armor but am amusing you can't wear certain clothes with armor, such as boots and hats (which makes sense). Also, if they add wearable Jewelry to Fallout 4 (it probably wouldn't happen but just saying) then we can expect an extra three more items. This also is discounting Power Armor as well...

You forgot about skirt who went over pants and greaves and robe who went on top off all again.

Fallout has an decent system for headgear, headgear slots could also be used for other stuff same system was used in Skyrim but mostly as an moder resource.

The system never left. Armor and clothing slots where always in BGS games since Morrowind.

For faster production (I assume) BGS decieded only to make one piece armors/clothing for FO3 and didn't use the slots, which as it seems changes now.

Well the Morrowind system had clipping issues so they simplified it in Oblivion, for some reasons robes prevented you from wearing pants or skirts.

Skyrim only had full body, simpler design and less memory use (major problem).

Original fallout had just body and head as I understand. At least FO:NV expanded this a bit with masks and glasses.

ESO has Oblivion system, however robes goes over pant or skirt, it also added belt, shoulders and tabard

Now its an chance that bottom layer will be pretty thigh fitting to avoid clipping then adding layers on top, the other option is to make clothing layer pretty bulky and hide armor below.

No. I just assumed that Fallout will NEVER get skirts and robes, like that. Same thing with belts.

Yeah, the individual slots have still been there, even if they weren't used by official armor..... there were several mods in Fallout 3/NV that had piece-built armor, and also in Skyrim.

If I can get a mod, I'll get me an Akatsuki robe with armor under it.

You are talking about the system which is actually wrong in the context. Morrowind had clipping issues correct the reason was the bad made armor and clothing meshes.

Again the system is in the games already (body slots, you can find in morrowind, Oblivion, FO3, NV & Skyrim) but it isn't used to its full capacity (the clothing/armor) meshes have to be made in a way so that they fit correctly with each other. Lets hope BGS this time did it. But actually I doubt that knowing their track record, there will be armors/clothing that fit well with each other but also clipping monsters.

They "simplified" it in oblivion mostly because the Morrowind system was terribly broken balance wise. All the layering allowed one to easily stack enchantments on their character to the point of becoming god-like with no effort. Fixing the clipping meshes was just a bonuses.

Skyrim was full body because most of the Nordic designs they came up with covered the legs, so there was no need to keep them a seperate item.
