So I finally got the game to start, and I can get to the home screen, but when I click new game, it starts to load then the game crashes. I have a Intel 2700k, and an AMD 7970 I have updated to the beta driver. I have contacted Bethesda but they have yet to get back to me on this problem.

Sounds like your rig is powerful, but maybe not setup for gaming?
Tune everything up for performance-performance (including your Radeon Control Panel), before launching the game - after a fresh reboot of course.
Then select a modest video preset, with AA disabled for now, to see if it will run.
Still early days right now...
Don't worry; things will improve.
Lot of Radeon guys will be happy to see a new Fallout-optimized driver package.
