Oooh, good point. D'oh!
Oooh, good point. D'oh!
It may be worth noting that gauss rifles are actual real. Some people even make them at home. They're just currently no where near as powerful as the ones in the game.
Well, the Gauss Rifles we see in FO:3 and F:NV do have a magazine attached to the opposite side of the gun from where you stick the Microfusion cell in. It can be safely assumed that this magazine holds a lot of ferromagnetic slugs, considering that the Gauss Rifles of the earlier games fired 2mm slugs. Lots of 2mm slugs can fit into a box magazine the size of the one that is on the rifle. However, I do agree that Gauss Rifles should get their own kind of ammunition, just like in FO:2. 2mm Energy Cells worked just fine, a magazine that is half-battery and half container for steel slugs.
That is very true. In order to make a weapon as powerful as what we find in Fallout, we'd need a much higher energy density than what we are currently capable of.
Well, of course the magazine there is where the slugs were kept. I have my doubts that they were 2mm slugs, though. Not with how hard that thing punched. The FO3/NV gauss rifle probably fired a much higher caliber slug.
At Mach 10, even a tiny projectile can punch massive holes through concrete.
Doubtful. It's a shame because it looks like Bethesda have kept a very similar amount of weapons as in Fallout 3. Sure, modding is awesome this time around, but I wish there were more base weapons as it looks like there will only be one or two types of shotguns, assault rifles, laser rifles, etc.
New Vegas was much better with the amount of rifles and automatic weapons it had.
My guess is that the various mods will determine what KIND of weapon you have, while the base weapon will mostly determine what ammunition you use. For example, the 10mm pistol might be able to be converted into a 10mm Submachine Gun, or a 10mm Bolt-Action Rifle, or a 10mm Revolver, or a 10mm Assault Rifle, or a 10mm Sniper Rifle all depending on the mod setup you use.
My biggest hope is that they bring back Gauss weapons, and expand on them with Railguns as an upgraded version (maybe the sniper barrel makes it a railgun?).
That's a good point, and that would amazing. I hope they include Gauss and Pulse energy weapons to go with the new cryo guns, to give energy weapon users more variety.
- D.E
- 12.77mm Pistol
- Winchester P94
- Glock 86
- " City Killer "
- Gauss Rifle / Pistol
That's all
Sincerely,

About the G11 they had plan of an light machine gun based on the G11 to with an 300 round magazine in the stock.
An gauss minigun sounds awesome
No Gauss, no glory! I demand a Gauss Rifle, i dont care if it is the old-school one or the FO3/NV one, just put that beautiful rifle in my hands
I think we will have to wait for people to add in weapon parts that enable us to make weapons that closely resembles something out of F1 and F2. After that we can just name it, Wattz 2000, or whatever. That was a great laser rifle btw. I loved the look no matter how silly it is with exposed wires. Also the .223 pistol and desert eagle, my favorite weapons. :3
But those two things are not really interchangeable. They each use very different mechanics to work.
I want a weapon that turns the target into a Gary clone, and every Gary clone that attacks any other NPC infects them and turns them also into a Gary clone.
It'd be like Agent Smith in The Matrix, but, Gary Clones. Gary Clones everywhere.
The US Navy is actually looking to replace the cannons on battleships with rail-guns. Theoretically, their range is ~200 miles, and they may be installed in a non-experimental capacity as early as 2017. You can actually see videos of them test firing on Youtube. With the microfusion cell technology available in the Fallout universe, gauss rifles should be quite effective. They should probably be as advanced as the ones from 2 and Tactics. Maybe the ones from 3 and New Vegas were just designed as sniper weapons.
I am well aware of that. The project has been going on for years. However, there is a big difference not only between gauss guns and railguns, but also between ship mounted and infantry weapons.
True, but the biggest difference in their design is the barrel. The Gauss Gun uses Electromagnetic coils that are activated in sequence, while the Railgun simply turns the barrel into a circuit that applies the Lorentz Effect to the projectile.
A Bozar that actually does the overkill damage like in Fallout 2.
I want vindicator minigun, gauss pistol, gauss rifle, turbo plasma rifle and p90 to be in fallout 4
What, no love for the Power Fist in the older versions? That thing looked so badarse compared to the newer version.
If there was a power fist for each hand, and, it could function as a regular glove while using ranged weapons ... I'd still probably never use it.
Some folks just don't do melee.
The power fist, should, however, be an automatic part of power armor; there if you want, but, no drawbacks if you don't use it.
