I do think that the son and spouse of the Lone Survivor being awaken earlier is very likely and their fate will be part of the main quests.

I noticed that at the E3 Fallout 4 Game Play Presentation at 13:05 in the Lone Survivor's pipboy inventory there were some interesting items in the Misc section.

That includes Technician's Personal Log, We are Done, and Your New Assignment.

I'm assuming these are reports and or messages.

Could be enough information to put the Lone Survivor on the trail of what happened to his or her spouse and son.

I think that these could be an extension of the tutorial, kind of like an online instruction manual for the Pip-Boy.

But the new assignment one sounds interesting.
