Music in gameplay

Post » Sat May 29, 2010 4:28 pm

i have seen countless videos and they all seem to not have any music in them. im not sure if im not listening hard enough or if its just not their at all. can anyone answer this question: what music genre and or if its on diffrent sides? such as resistance have more of a rift rock and security more of a techno (just an example) i am a huge )LP( fan and i think "the catalyst" would be perfect for teh end of the resistance ending. just respond on what you think or know will be in the game or what you would like to hear in BRINK

Nothing has been confirmed. I hope for some DnB (Pendulum in particular). I do like LP, but I think the Cataclyst is alread tied to Medal of Honor (It was used in one of the trailers)

Do mean music during gameplay? or cutscenes?

Music during gameplay (multiplayer matches) is a no no for me. If you want to play your own music it's fine but I don't want music playing ingame in multiplayer matches. (:))

Its ok in cutscenes as it adds to the whole drama of it. (:))

i mean like cut scenes or story mode. prob not story mode though cuz i gree. i dont want music to take away the whole aspect of the game. but maybe like in MAG if you get a certain amount of kills it plays music. or in MW perks and upgrades. i know im being confuzing sry for that,

It's cool. I know where your coming from, but end of game cutscenes or killstreak music would get repetitive after a while and people will just turn the music setting all the way down affecting overall enjoyment of the game. In singleplayer/co-op story cutscenes music would work well.

Another example is if you are using a headset (Turtle Beach for instance) the sound quality of your game almost doubles, you can hear things like footsteps or even people reloading and tell what direction they're coming from. It can really help with Battlefield Awareness, the leading cause to most deaths.

Now imagine trying that with music drowning those small details out, makes it real hard to know whats up.

What turtle beach do you use? I use the wireless IR ones.

I have a pair of Alessandro MS1 headphones with a clip on mic and a virtual surround audio card for my PC. Sounds so much nicer than gaming headphones, with the benefit of being able to use them for my iPod as well.

I used to own a pair of Grados - good headphones. As for sound cards, I have an x-fi platinum.

I like them but I wish I had ones that worked through walls so if I grab a soda between rounds I can still talk to people.

If you're married, what are you doing getting sodas? That's what the wife is for.

Anyways back on topic, i'm hoping for a good mix of music, would be cool if in game you could check your mp3 player to change the tune you had on.

If the music was used as a notification followed by an on screen icon telling you new stuff has been unlocked then you will always associate that sound with "oh neat new stuff!", so it won't be a bad thing. Music for repetitive tasks would get annoying...
