So can I still explore the wastes in my power armor or..?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 8:22 pm

During the crafting showcase at E3, when they showed us that we could customize our power armour, the T-45 armour looked exactly the same as the T-60, just with a different colouring. My hypothesis is that the soldiers in the intro are wearing T-45 armour, and T-60 is the Institute's own attempts to improve on the old T-45 design. Perhaps the Institute didn't have any T-51 suits after the war, but had a few examples of T-45. Knowing that they'd need better gear eventually, they took apart the T-45's and began the lengthy process of trying to improve them over the T-51's. Of course, unbeknownst to them, the Enclave would eventually build the X-01 models of Power Armour.

TL;DR? T-60 is the Institute's Post-War advancement on Powered Combat Armour technology.

EDIT: Upon reviewing the footage, it seems that the b designation of T-45 armour looks exactly like the T-60 stuff we're shown. So I think the soldiers are just wearing T-45b suits.

Still doesnt quite make sense as we have up to this point been led to believe that the Institute was more advanced than even the Enclave which would lead one to assume they could design better tech. On the other hand we can just assume Bethesda made a mistake (wouldnt be the 1st time) but until we have better context for the armor in-game we wouldnt know for sure

There's not a doubt in my mind that (eventually) you'll be able to explore the wastes with PA. Remember that the workshop for power armor is in a seemingly remote area. So in order to use it, you'd essentially have to have a vertibird. Considering I don't think that'll be a thing, I think most power armor will be fine. Remember that the BOS and Enclave both used PA to explore the wastes, so I'm sure we'll be able to as well.

well in FO3/NV Brotherhood people slept and ate in their armor...because reasons. gamesas might pull a lore-move and retcon that kind of casual activity

Do we think that the Power Armor will be a forced third person view like horses, werewolf, vampire lord were in Skyrim?

You must have seen different footage, because the t-60 has a different helmet, very different arms and much more bulky pauldrons than the t-45 (http://imgur.com/a/W7WkC for reference)

It also seems to be worn by the soldiers guarding the vault in the intro,so post-war is false.

I believe what they meant is that the T-45 and T-60 look far more similar than the T-51 and T-60

so what were trying to figure out then is what is the t60, where does it fit in...if the number designator is the official way to determine the order the armor came in(Idk if there is another way) and why would the supposed most modern PA(t60) share all the flaws of the t45 ??????....lol I love fallout

I noticed something in the gameplay footage. When the player is wearing the power armor, at the bottom of the screen (in the HUD) there is a dial that show the "Core" level, and has an image of a battery beneath it. The level slowly goes down. So it looks like there will be a battery charge to the power armor, and therefore you will be limited in how long you can use it.

Also I don't think you can use your PIP-Boy in power armor, so that could become really annoying I guess. Anyway I suspect using Power Armor in Fallout 4 will be a bit more difficult than in the previous games, yet I'm strangely ok with that.

Which makes some sense if you are wearing old unmodified T-45 but not if you are wearing T-51+ as their power supplies are far more dependable than that

ble: am surprised that so many people havnt noticed this as well. I think actually its a good idea, it may be related around putting together piecemeal armor. That is the more armor you have that isnt the 'same model' the more power intensive it is. I actually like that mechanic.

You say annoying, i say it is about damn time! Pip-boy ruined the Power Armor in FO3/NV. "Lemme just remove an entire arm of this super powerful tank armor so i can flip through my silly wrist computer, no need to protect that arm or utilize the PA strength in both hands..."

Oh god no. I'm glad to see they didn't do the PIP-Boy 3000 sleeve again. That made zero sense especially when you go in space in Mothership Zeta with a naked arm. Anyway I was talking about the utility of the PIP-Boy not the aesthetic.

Maybe the Pip Boy syncs with the armor so you will still have access to it

This is what Power Armor is supposed to be in the lore. I'm glad they seem to be moving towards that.

Here is a thread that discusses possible PA energy usage.

I'd be more worried about the floor not the door.

Power Armor has to weigh hundreds of pounds.

Add in a 200 pound man with a fully loaded mini gun and I wonder how many 200 year old floors or roofs would be able to support him.

No official weight has ever been quoted for power armor, the only official statement on the matter is that universally (even in the case of the comparatively lighter t51b model) that power armor is so heavy that without internal micro motors it could never be used.

That aside I'm fairly happy that we should at the very least be getting a semi lore accurate representation of power armor in F4, No matter what they throw our way as far as usage difficulty goes my character is going to use his power armor the entire game.
Also apparently sleeping in power armor is possible if you lock the armor into an upright position.

It says the T-51 was the last finished PA,so T-60 must be prototype designed to replace the T-45 in the way of easy to produce, yet highly effective armor ,theres my 2 cents
