63 hrs in and i'm having a blast! Made a sweet "hotel" in sanctuary hills, complete with a penthouse for me and my companions.

Only problem is.. THEY CANT GET THERE!! (

They just run around in circles at the ground floor, and whenever i command them to "go" to a spot in the penthouse, they say all kinds of funny banter on how they cant get UP there.

Dunno if its my stairs that are all wrong.. or the game's NPC pathfinding system cant comprehend my Hotel layout (layout is quite simple really, and wide enough so its definitely not an obstruction issue).

Currently I'm trying to rearrange my stairs & removing obstructions near the stairs, but to no luck.. So im just wondering, has anyone here actually built a 2-3 story building and have no problems with NPCs going up and down those floors? :0

If its a pathfinding issue, i hope it gets patched in the next update @Bethesda

i have similar issues too, i tried making a guard post ontop of one of the houses, but nobody will go up there

I did once see strong get glitched onto a rooftop though, and when i built stairs for him to get down, he actually used them

I gave them doors so people wouldn't sneak into their houses at night. They get stuck in them.

Hmmm, no they are not great in tall structures are they.

The game seems ok to recognise that they have a bed.

But they prefer to mill around at the bottom.

I filled Hangman's Alley with a multi-storey structure

and 15 people line up in a corridor...

So its a pathfinding issue..

In terms of the Bed, some NPCs DO manage to get to the upperfloors (didnt see how they got there, must've spawned there) & most of the others are stuck on the ground staring at the ceiling. Its pretty inconsistent actually.

I thought it was my stairs.. Patch fix pleaseeee!!

in my settlement I can never find my settlers, and then I pan up and they're all stood on the roof with no way to get back down. No idea how they got up there *reaches for the Fatman*

I've never had a problem getting my settlers to use stairs.
