Dose any buddy feel Bos lost their way

In Fallout 3. Hence, retcon. It's fine if they explain it however they explain it, but I couldn't stand the hokey Good Bro style of Fallout 3's BOS. NV and 4 are closer to how they should be, imo.

It's not a retcon because nothing was changed. That's like saying NCR and the Brotherhood having a war is a retcon. It's just the story progressing.

If the Brotherhood had always been magical sunshine and bunnies, they'd be a retcon.

This,

A retcon is basically going back and changing the roots of your already establish lore. FO3 recognized that the CW Brotherhood was unlike the others, hell even elder Lyons tells you he's gone native, and against what is normal for elders. The fact they go back to their roots after Maxon takes over only proves Lyons was the oddball, and the white-knighted brotherhood couldn't last and still be the "brotherhood of steel".

I know fully well what a retcon is and making the Brotherhood USA BROS is definitely changing the overall tone of the Brotherhood from previous games. Guys...

...this has been covered in countless reviews since FO3 came out. It's not like I'm pulling this out of thin air. It's a thing. Sorry.

People should really stop saying that EC BoS was following a different ideology than the western.

They did not. Lyons did and even in FO3 it was made clear that extremely few supported Lyon's beliefs. And they were very open about their dislike for Lyons and his ways even in FO3. It was back then obvious that the new beliefs would die with Lyons.

That's not retcon, that's you not liking something.

You ARE pulling it out of thin air. Or at least you completely fail to understand what word Retcon means.

And even if we say that your definition of retcon is correct, than your vision of BoS is more wrong. Even before Beth acquired the license, BoS was planned to fall into conflict between several ideological factions (WC BoS formed the Circle of Steel to fight people who wanted to change it). And it makes sense: BoS members are not mindless drones, but people who have a mission and have to choose how to follow it.

Sarah is K.I.A. according to a terminal.

Much sadness.

She died in combat a few years after the events of Fallout 3.

They've also excised the Lone Wanderer from BoS history.

Because the BOS are kind of [censored].

Some people speculate they might be the other Sentinel aside from Paladin Danse, though

The BOS after Lyons fell became conservative because it worked, their liberal policies ended tearing them apart, now they're powerful due to incorperating outsiders along with their steal it all philosophy.

They found their old dogma and sythesized it with the new dogma. Creating something that Caesar would have been proud to see. Too bad their in way over their heads. Institute can easily wipe them out, or even well organized militias funny enough.

That's really only because of the simple rule that the player's chosen faction will always win. Because player.

They're not so in-over-their-heads if you side with them.
