Yup, ponytails are functional, no-nonsense haircut, yet still retains some elegance and style...
Hairstyles were horrible in Fallout3/New Vegas, glad to see some new ones, loved the default Female one.

I'm really hoping they have some nice options for long hair. For both genders preferably, but at least for the ladies.
Really, though, all I ever wanted was a mid-back length straight and a reasonable-length ponytail.
But, hey, this time around consoles are going to have some access to user-made mods. If the hair packs for Morrowind through Skyrim are any indication, we'll drown in options within a few months of the Creation Kit releasing.
Indeed, I'm playing NV again nowadays and half of the hairs are raider hairs and I'm pretty much stuck with no-nonsense or blast back for a female combat character. Games unfortunately have way too many saloon hairs with a worse ratio of practical daily hair models that can fit inside a full helmet without getting tangled on it.
I just want some mid-length hair styles for women or some stylish bobcuts at least.
Yes, ponytails! Best of all they don't tend to clip with armor which makes me crazy. Hair clipping with anything makes me crazy.
Do you by any chance have a beard of the neck variety?
Needs an Einstein-haircut to complete the mad scientist look. Stat.
We need bob cuts to make are Korra characters.
Korra doesn't actually have a bob, she just lopped off much of the back part to go incognito.
Probably can't expect long hair with realistic movement...right? Can PCs not handle that, even nowadays?
I just linked a video bookmark that suggests hair physics of some kind.
I guess it depends what you consider "realistic." If you just mean movable, that has been in games for over ten years. One of my favorite hairstyles - a long braid down the back that bounces when you run - was in Everquest 2, which came out in 2004.
