1. You brought up all sorts of other things, when all the op mentioned was coop.
2. You brought that up as well.
3. So you don't know who or what or why in regards to opposion to coop or varying levels of multiplayer in regards to a fallout universe game. It's presumably why you used "argument ad absurdum" previously.
4. I don't think I've claimed to know the solution to every problem in this regard, but it served as an example that problems can get solved, thoug might possibly, not allways, require compromise.
5. But none that complete fullfill everyones wish and thus it is ALLWAYS an amalgam of more or less compromise.
6. I believe that the impact of coop depends completely on how it is implemented. It can vary from very high impact to minimal and nigh unnoticeable.
I don't know what the op meant by coop and I can only speak for myself in this regard and when I say fallout game with optional coop I mean the following:
The exact same game as we would usually get, with the additional option that my npc follower(s) can be played by a human and/or that another player(s) can create a custom character and appear as my companion.
The host would be "in the driver seat" so to speak and make quest decisions and dialogue choices, which the other player(s) would observe.
It should provide minimal impact on singleplayers other than offcouse some undefinable amount development ressources going to implementation.
The coop experience itself, should be as equal to regular singleplayer experience as possible, with the difference that hopefully you would have smarter companions and the social aspects of sharing the openworld exploring, the creativity of settlements now and the stories with another person(s).
That's the coop I would like... minimal impact on others who enjoy the games as they are, completely optional and with the coop experience staying as true to the normal gaming experience as possible.
Selfish? Yes, to a certain degree, but not overly so and I'd say not hypocrital, since I think it tries to equally respect others wishes as well.
PS: Btw. I fully acknowledge that gaming companies have been ... less than stellar... at implementing things like coop or multiplayer so far. Often going way too overboard and forgetting what made their games special.
As far as I know... I don't know of any companies that have tried the above level of implementation and succeeded? It would be nice to see it done "right" imho.
