Specifically, about Father (I avoided naming him in the thread title for spoiler reasons).
I just met him (I know. I'm behind), but I was struck by something I discovered after speaking with him.

Father is a 60 year old man who has lived by and large in relative comfort and security. Yet he has shockingly white hair. He's obsessed with the Synth Child prototype. He sleeps in a hospital bed with an oxygen supply nearby.
Is Shaun dying?

Those things are explained in the story later on, unless you do something like start attacking the people in the Institute's base right now and make them hostile. Then it may or may not be explained since I don't know what all the possible endings are. You normally will be informed well before the ending though.
