My theory on the baby.

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 6:51 pm

so, now we can build settlements, right? what if some young people come in there and are like "let's have a baby!" and based on what the two parents look like, the baby comes out different. so if they made this technology for people in settlements, why not use it for the main character's baby?

just a theory. i honestly don't think that it's plausible, but it's worth making a topic about i guess. :P

Baby is an android. And later turns into a ghoul pirate in power armor with a jetpack.

Fact.

I actually did not really think about it. It would be a very cool idea to see settlements grow from that perspective, since that has been done in Fallout Shelter and some of those ideas were reflected from Fallout 4. I'm not sure though since children grow up fast in Fallout Shelter so I don't know what to think if it happens in Fallout 4.

It probably won't work with Shaun - the protagonists baby - since there is not enough evidence to determine whether he'll still be a baby or even alive.

That's plausible. I still think the most likely scenario is that the kid will be relevant to the plot, but it's not 100% set in stone the way many people seem to think it is. What annoys me much more though is the line of logic "We can edit the wife's appearance, so she must matter to the plot!"
You can edit either spouse because you can play as either gender. It's a more fluid, less "spreadsheet-y" way of picking your gender. Just because you can edit both does not in any way prove the spouse will survive the bombs dropping. Could she? Absolutely. I'm just sick of people acting as if it's confirmed when it isn't in any way.

I agree with you. At it's best, your spouse would most likely act as a genetic template combined with your appearance. Basically, it's just another variable in your baby's (Shaun) appearance...

The protagonist's son! A ghoul pirate! Who the hell came up with that idea... er, oops :bonk:

Definitely one of my more 'unusual' theories

The baby would also command all the Mirelurks in East Coast, and ally with Moira Brown and her army of repellent stick Molerats *shudders*

Or perhaps was exposed to a vat of FEV so he's half Radroach, half Ghoul, and half Super Mutant so he looks something like The Master and commands a fleet of galactic space Nazi's...

the kid has to be alive, every "main quest" is always something personal to the PC and searching the wasteland for your long lost child just makes the most sense.

That is what I truly think. A perfect example is with Fallout 3 where you had to go out and find James aka Liam Neeson. Otherwise, what would the beginning to the plot be for Fallout 4 if his family died in the Vault?

I don't think this would work as it would take years for babies to grow and fallout's main games have a pretty fixed clock system, imagine having to wait 24 hours 270 times for each kid to be born, its to much like fable to me and fallout's typically more serious than that.

Is there anyway that the baby could be a ghoul?

If ghouls were made from the bomb that could make it a ghoul baby, which to the best of my knowledge would mean the baby would never grow up as ghouls apparently don't age. Or, the baby could have survived, then somehow got radiated later on (it has happened a few times in FO), and therefore was still alive when the PC leaves the vault.

One issue I do have about the baby being a grown ghoul is the fact that it's supposed to look like the parents, unless that part was only in reference to it's skin color while in the crib.

But remember... you hve to wait 9 ingame months to actually see the baby!

Nah.

The twist is YOU ARE THE BABY. "Shaun" could be short for "Shauna" (for female characters.)
The baby didn't have any memories yet when the bombs fell.
Some devious bastard in the Vault somehow was able to get hold of your character's memories and implant them into the baby.

FACT.

Baby turns evil and we get a reverse Darth Vader situation.

Of this I am convinced ;)
