lateral movement and strafing

Interesting. Yet another thing I will have to get used to.

It seems all of the FPS skills I have picked up over the years may not help me as much as I hoped. :)

You've been playing the wrong games then (Just kidding)
A lot of stuff that makes Brink Brink are things that I really like and which not a lot of shooters have. It all seems familiar :D

It's all down to personal preference, I started on the consoles so I played a lot of the wrong games by chance. Usually skills I pick up in Halo transfer to Battlefield or Medal of Honor and vice versa, I like trying new games. But don't yell at me if I 'clip' behind cover and slowly advance towards the enemy cautious of all my lines of sight. (Battlefield :))

Nothing you ever learned in any FPS goes to waste. You might want to play slightly different depending on the game, but most skills transfer. There are exceptions though, like going from operation flashpoint to Q3 arena :D

I know the feeling, going from Medal of Honor (slow gameplay) to Black Ops (semi fast gameplay) can be tough. I stick with Battlefield till Brink roles around :)

On my "fast" scale it's pretty slow. :P

Seriously, I think it's more around average nowadays. Fastest game I know: Q3 arena, the slowest: No idea. I guess something like Operation Flashpoint.

Reminds me that the speed you see in the videos will probably be a little higher at game release. I read it somewhere in an interview yesterday. Nearly all footage is with medium bodytype.

It's slow but not as slow as say Operation Flashpoint. Running around in BFBC2 like a headless chicken is not the best playstyle.

UT with speed mutators is the fastest. In terms of class-based, team objective games like Brink, RTCW and W:ET are probably the fastest. Bad Company is pretty slow in comparison, both in overall speed and gameplay.

Playing FPSs on consoles is always wrong. :P

Bad Company 2 is a slow game because of the map-size. Playing on smaller maps would make it much, much faster.

Also the slowest FPS is probably Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, which makes you move forward step by step. By step. By step.
