Close Up Sneak Kill - Like Skyrim throat cutting

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 5:29 am

I love the ability in Skyrim to sneak up on a sentry or member of an opposition group and silently cut their throat. And it makes for a great kill shot cinematic.

It would be great to have that option in Fallout 4 to creep up on an NPC and do the stealth kill without alerting other enemy NPCs.

I think it's possible since they've apparently made a completely new combat system.

I'm hoping for better stealth gameplay too, for real. Most importantly for me, I want NPCs that notice and go on alert when they see the corpses of their buddies. Would make stealth gameplay + energy weapons pretty interesting, if they didn't go on alert from seeing ash piles. Maybe even a little comical, if a raider looks at the ashes of his comrade and casually says, "who the hell made this mess?".

Probably will be in the game seeing it was in Skyrim. Not only that but it's also a little detail to add to improve combat etc. Also the gun/weapons combat looks improved in the trailer that shows gameplay footage, so it may be a tweak they have added.

I would not say that throat slitting in stealth is an improve combat mechanic. It is not a combat mechanic, because it negates combat. It silently removes a target, thus nullifying combat. Ideally you do this when a target is alone or in small numbers as part of an ambush.

Yes, I loved this in Skyrim, I didn't like doing sneak melee runs in 3 and NV for this very reason. Nothing makes me more flaccid than instantly killing someone with a punch to the kneecaps and watching them crumple to the ground. I want to see more throats getting slit and silly spinning sword kill animations dammit!!!

I think we all know how this would go.

Slit their throat, leg will fall off. Then you stab the body again and it will explode

This is how you should do sneak attacks. Still as shocking as when I first saw it years ago.

I'm looking forward to that too.

Bethesda has pointed out that Fallout 4 is also Elder Scrolls 5.5 in a lot of ways at least as far as the sandbox world.

I think they are taking an improved Creation Engine upgraded to be a GOOD FPS with a much opener world and fewer load screens and then pulling in the best mods and features of F3 and FONV.

It certainly doesn't feel like they rushed it.

And you have to admit improving and expanding an existing game engine is much easier than creating a brand new one.

They are basically pulling an Obsidian.

By using an existing engine which you know what it can and can't do, they could put most of the team on making the best Fallout game they can.

I recently downloaded a mod that alleges to fix the NPC reactions but either it's not working properly or something's amiss because I shot one guard and his head exploded all over the guard he was talking to, and that second guard basically shrugged and resumed his patrol as if nothing had happened. :P

Since we've been able to drag bodies since forever, I'd love it if we had to drag bodies out of sight to avoid having other foes find them and become alerted.

Along the lines of criminal activity and stealth, I'd also like it if I could pick a lock and no one saw me so I did not take a karma hit for it.

No. No insta-gibbing of any form just because you sneaked from nehind. Either you deal enough damage, or the guy turns back and opens a can of whoopass.

I hate playing a stealthy character is games but I'd imagine they do that since you're now able to melee enemies with your gun so why not?

Looks like there will Be death Animations for both the Player, and your enemies. Judging by the Deathclaw Tossing the protagonist around like a ragdoll in the "Atom bomb Baby" montage, It looks like they took Skyrims execution system and expanded on it.
