To be truthful, I'm only having one major hangup in regards to this project: the magic.
I'm trying to make it so that every spell in the game functions under one, consistent, all-inclusive system. That way, I don't have to explain and account for the rules and exceptions for every single spell. However, given how disparate the spells are from each other, this task is impossible. How does one account for some spells being permanent and other spells being temporary? Or how some spells seem to enact their effects over a period of time while others have their effects repeat themselves over time? If one can tweak the settings of spells to account for those, what about spells like Levitate? Could one theoretically make themselves levitate forever?
Needless to say, it's a convoluted mess. Any advice?
