Three Button Melee System?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 4:53 pm

With the inclusion of what appears to be a dedicated melee button for Fallout 4's ranged weapons. Are we going to see a three button melee system for melee dedicated weapons? Assuming Bethesda has decided to have left trigger do a different type of melee attack rather then block a negligible amount of damage like in previous games I am thinking we could see a more complex and satisfying melee system utilizing both triggers as well as the dedicated melee button that exists for ranged weapons! Please feel free to discuss!

Dual-wielded melee weapons like in Skyrim? Wading into a group of Raiders with a pair of machetes might be fun.

I think it would be better to have one weapon with more specialized strike types personally. If dual wield were to exist I would rather it be limited to one handed guns simply because dual wield could take away from the possible complexity of melee combat. Of course they could certainly work around that being such a hard working and dedicated company.

Not impossible the dedicated melee button will be used to preform a weapons special melee attack, instead of holding attack and moving like its done in NV.

In the previous Fallout games the left trigger was actually used to block, so I'm not sure how a 3 button melee system would work unless blocking was removed.

who needs block in fallout though honestly? I will trade that for more attack variety any day. Also please excuse my stupidity for not realizing that fallout had block. Didn't use melee weapons much and probably still wont. But it is worth a bit a of discussion.

I don't know what a "trigger" is, but Bethesda's combat is usually pretty primitive. I can't imagine needing more than one button.

We should at least be upgraded to the Skyrim melee combat with special moves available.

I hope they took tips from Arkane Studios, who happen to make much better first person melee combat than BGS. They are in the same comany branch now, like id who gave them Gunplay tips.

Perhaps the 3rd-button can cause a "Kick" that pushes back the enemy and leaves for special counter attack?

I would actually like for them to improve the blocking during melee combat.

That would be fun, they could do it action movie style in which all the redshirts have guns but attempt to engage the hero in close combat for some reason.

I do, rewarding melee really needs a block. A dodge and/or roll makes it even better
