Very disappointed. Made a bloody mess of the main story

So I was strolling along to Diamond City... when I died 50 ways to Sunday. I don't have enough fusion cores to huff it in my power armor all the way there and the fight with super mutants and hundreds of things too deadly to face below level 15 as I strive for days to get to Diamond City which is supposed to still be introducing me to this new post apocalyptic environment to my character. So what do I do? Like any sensible gamer who wants to not be running away from everything in sight, or even have a chance of making it 2 steps without having my head blown off, I creep my way towards there doing sidequests along the way. 30 hours into the game and level 20 I finally make it down here with my arsenal and armors, I'm a whiz on the crafting stations and a crack shot with my various weapons........ To a Super Mutant melee shootout in front of the gates to Diamond City which pounded a solid thumping to me. What is there a major super mutant population doing on my side of the Diamond City that I have to get through? Nevermind the dozens of raider gangs.

So the axe to grind. My initial quests are staggering and ridiculous. I have to fight a giant deathclaw that bashes my skull in on several attempts until I finally get it down, then I have to hoof a full 40% of the map southward but before I go there I get hinted that I should do a couple tasks first. Those simple small tasks have me clearing out massive bases of 20-40+f raiders while assisting "settlements" of 2 people... When I finally get there I'm already fighting supermutants, also on the way, brotherhood of steal getting whomped down hard by ghouls galore. I help them out then go off with Paladin Danse into a poor of synthetics finding myself having the blow up another 40 some odd enemies to get back and be abused every damn time I'm doing a mission, trading missions, or filling in gaps between Knight Rhys and the Scribe girl, Rhys saying "You kill a few ghouls and suddenly you're all goody goody with Paladin Danse" well, if you want to get technical about it, I blasted the hell out of a synthetic robot army and Danse and I barely made it out of there alive, but yeah, you can leave it to a few ghouls if you have absolutely no clue that I have already overcome a hell of a lot more than Knight Rhys did (as well as all the reports show that Danse is the absolute worst, stupidest, ineffectual and ridiculous leader that time and again while on recon tried to do massive assaults instead of reconaissance.... right, that makes sense...). Before I can even CONSIDER making a run for Diamond City I've had mini nukes blown up in my face, had to snipe 3 raider II power armors with fat boys blasting my comrade to bits, 4 or 5 legendary ghouls and others, cross a bridge with another power armor raider.
So when I finally do get there I am greeted on the outside by a lippy sheltered "reporter" girl asking to get let back in as she is completely oblivious to the real world wasteland around her as well as the constant war waging not even one building over between the security forces and the super mutants as she very obviously misguidedly rips into the mayor about sordid affairs when they have Super Mutants at the gates!?!?
How did this get ok'd in any way? How was it allowed whatsoever that I'm supposedly still brand new in the game to get what takes a couple hours on foot alone to get to the city, nevermind doing it at a pace that makes sense to explore and survive, gear up, and do quests along the way... I am just beyond astonished how in this edition of Fallout failed the pacing so atomically, so astoundingly, so incomprehensibly where each and every predecessor had the introductory and preporatory quest lines in a reasonable location, accessible, and indicated through the accompanying side quests and suggestions from the NPCs...
Don't EVER let this happen again, this has been a massive slap in the face of devoted fans, this complete negligence of the atmosphere and the storyline. Sure this is a well done sand box, and the ideas of managing settlements, though they should never be called as such when you go traipsing off to meet bill and sally growing their little tomato garden out behind their outhouse of a shack... but it is still Fallout, and it is still an RPG, which makes STORYLINE the central premise and important feature. It is as though no one cared whatsoever about the actual quests and they just cared about exploration and building, as everything seems so focused around those, as though the quests and story and dialogue was cobbled together as an afterthought. 36 hours in, the upper Northwest 40% of the map pretty thoroughly explored and quests accomplished, everything north and west of Diamond City, before I ever even made it to Diamond City and progressed any plot because I immediately got smacked around A LOT when I first set off south. Plus as a completionist I felt a compulsion to complete as I comb southwards. Not to mention constant load screen warnings that everything gets more dangerous in the south. Like a constant war at the gates of Diamond City with a Super Mutant Army. But don't let that bother you, a minor nuissance at worst, no one ever dies fighting them, after all, the newspaper girl cannot imagine any possible reason that the security forces are busy fighting for their lives all day every day while she complains about them.

Yea, that is a bit on the immersive breaking side. Beth did at least have them fight it out at the gates in these moments in Skyrim. So it really should be added into this somehow. And the dialog needs to be changed when it's chaotic. "Help, let me on, don't leave me to die out here!"

Power Armor? lolwut? I haven't worn power armor all game and have over 100 unused fusion cores in hand and a brand new suit of X-01 Mk III collecting dust at sanctuary......I fought against and killed all the supermutants(including legendaries) on my way to diamond city just fine on normal difficulty.....at level 15 I took down a legendary sentry bot and now at level 63 I don't even bother wearing any armor at all anymore.....I hardly get hit at all so I just stroll around in Reginald's Suit or hazmat suit if in a high radiation area. Sounds to me like you just botched your character development and just randomly picked crap without a long-term plan in mind. Either that or you need to just sit and think for two minutes before engaging nasties.
