Very strong enemies

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 10:33 pm

What enemies do you think will pose a big threat
-deathclaws...I hope they're the apex predators of the waste, should be terrifying to fight one
-BOS..from what we saw in the trailer a BOS member tanked a missile shot without too much damage, so I hope some serious tactics are involved when dealing with power armored enemies
I really hope some enemies can just mess your world up if you don't plan for them accordingly. You shouldn't be able to laugh off deathclaws and power armor enemies...thoughts?

Deathclaws have, and probably always will be, that one enemy in a Fallout Game that makes my game state flash before my eyes.

Even if you see them far out in the distance, I'm always going "...Don't agro, don't agro, dear god don't agro, I do NOT have enough ordinance for you and your friends..."

In other words, Deathclaws are a tough act to follow. They already kind look like Diablo the Prime Evil a little bit.

Any and all could be a serious threat depending on your level and where you are.

Remember that all the opposition is leveled now.

In the E3 Presentation, I saw a raider boss that was level 48.

Now the scary thing is if the opposition has access to perks.

High level opponents will not only be tougher but have more tricks up their sleeves.

They are also doing a much smarter auto-scaling.

"Bethesda is tweaking the way auto-scaling works for Fallout 4 to create more challenge. "We call it rubberbanding; we'll have an area [where enemies scale from] level 5 to 10, and then this area will be level 30 and above," Howard says. "You'll run into stuff that will crush you, and you will have to run away."

Sounds like fun.

So anyone want to take on a level 120 Deathclaw Matriarch?

I'd prefer to see humans armed with ranged weaponry as the deadliest enemies.

Supermutant Behemoths. I'm running a mod in Fallout 3 that lets them populate more than their vanilla fixed locations (like five of them) so one time I fast traveled to a power station / antenna thing (sneaking of course) and I see a Supermutant with his back to me. Aha! I think. Line up a shot to the head and P'TING! Super Mutant Behemoth sloooowly turns around and I realize that he wasn't actually close to me at all --- he was just honking gigantic and farther away from me! Runrunrunrunrunrun!

They'll probably throw in some powerful enemies that we haven't encountered before in the previous Fallout games.

From the enemies that I've seen before:
- Behemoth
- Deathclaw
- The higher variations of Mirelurks

The ghouls look like they travel in groups, so they could be dangerous in numbers.

NPC's in Skyrim can be given perks in the CK. Hopefully that will extend to FO4. Of course, some perks only make sense for the player. But NPC's can benefit from many combat perks in Skyrim and it makes them more of a challenge.

But I did say "Now the scary thing is if the opposition has access to perks."

What ever the enemy is, I just hope they're not really bullet spongy. I hate bullet sponges.

good thing we dont have to fight Spongebob then.. cus he cant die.. hes the best sponge ever ;D lol...

but really at the rate we seen enemies dieing in the trailer (except the deathclaw and power armored enemies) it seems about the same or even faster to kill as other fallout games.

well, they probably will

skyrim npcs had them kinda, but it ended up kinda redundant for the most part

like a bandit chief would have some perks that increased his light armor defense by a bit and his 1-hand damage, but since his high tier in the bandit ranking system already gave him beefy stats in health and light armor and damage, the perk was pretty much unnoticeable

the ebony warrior is the only one i can think of that had some scary perks in the vanilla game

i thought you meant you heard enemies would have 'tricks up their sleeves' as in active perks

it actually would be scary if, say, a raider bomber-freak had perks you could actually notice right away

(access to rare nuka grenades, a perk that doubled grenade throw distance, double explosion size, etc) you know things you could see and immediately think 'yep, that fracker has those scary explosives perks going on'

if enemies just have some passive buff perks that get lost in their existing abilities, meh, that's cool but not very exciting

fallout has some crazy abilities tied with perks, it'd be nice to see some enemies get the good/wacky ones like you, not just buffers

I think FO4 might need something new at the top of the food chain. Maybe some sort of mutated abominations The Thing or The Relic?

Fat Man.

*shudder*

Oh, another idea...

If it's possible, in a DLC (because doing so in the main game will spoil the fun), an enemy that is unstoppable, colossal, and almost invincible would be great.

Like some kind of a force of nature, the greatest abomination FEV and radiation could spawn. That enemy is only one, and it is a legend, because you hardly ever seen it, only the traces of its destruction.

Imagine exploring somewhere, to see corpses strewn somewhere. The scary thing is, the corpses include deathclaws, which would be the apex predator of the wasteland. Then, you see a footprint, large and very unusual, and some giant claw scratch marks on the ground and in the wall.

If you managed to meet it, good luck. You'll be dead, unless you can escape it...

It would be good if enemies that are over your level have a skull or some other typical warning next to their name and a menu option to hide the alert if hardcoe people don't want to see it.

well for one, i hope that the high tier factions like the BoS and the Institute have weapons and armor that are in good repair compared to fallout 3 where their gear was in terrible condition which was one of the reasons why they were so [censored] weak. When i installed FOOK for fallout 3 it was amazing to see how strong the Enclave troopers were when their armour was in the 85% and up repair range instead of sub 20% they were at in the base game. the Same went for their weapons, their plasma bolts actually hurt
