The PC is not an Android...

They are VAMPIRE!

If you watch the demo video again, you can clearly see that Mr. Howard casts no reflection in the Pre-War segment when looking at Codsworth's incredibly shiny and reflective body.

All joking aside, that is kind of disappointing. I always like seeing games that go the extra mile in giving your character a sense of solidity, particularly in the form of shadows and reflections. Especially when you can customize your character and have those shadows and reflections change to match that.

It would be nifty if codsworth reflected and there was an mc escher easter egg there, though

I noticed that. Even if it was blurry reflection should've been there. Maybe we will get reflections in static objects like mirrors? Doubtful though given all the surfaces that could potentially cast reflections.

It's understandable though, It's a realtime cutscene, not pre-rendered. The environment/reflection map is going to be a static generic image; not one calculated from the current scene.

The character creation reminded me of The Sims 4 lol

Anyway the probably removed the shadows becaus it would be kind of annoying. To be trying to work on a face. And creat a character And having the nose and eyebrow casting a shadow on the rest of the face.

I agree, he's not an Android. I disagree with the Vampire assertion, because he is quite obviously an iPod.

While this is probably true, it's 2015 damnit. People need to start enabling full reflections in video games. It's possible to do, it's just computationally difficult. A real-time ray tracing algorithm could do it, and this is something that's been possible for years - just few things actually make use of it because it generally jacks up system requirements to a significant degree.

my theory and this is pure speculation

you do not survive that nuclear blast , it was way to close and the blast and heat would have killed everyone still outside

you are so burned that you will not survive when you are taken down and there your memories are transplanted into a android that is a exacy copy of you, another goverment / vault tec experiment

but this is of course pure speculation , but seems like the basis of some great storytellinf

again we know absolutely nothiong and bethesda is more likely to tell us Jon Snow didn t die and how he is going to be resurrected than telling us the Fallout 4 storyline

It might be that they can set up reflections for static objects in the environment, but creating reflections for character models and animated stuff is really demanding.

Maybe this would explain why apple had exclusivity on Fallout Shelter :bonk:

There's probably something deep to be said about a sense of solidity being derived from reflections and shadows but I haven't had my coffee yet so I can't find it.
