Fallout 4 has stopped working. Jeez it didn't even start!

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 6:23 am

Just installed Fallout 4 and on running I get:

Fallout 4 has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.

Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is avaiable.

I know my maching isn't the greatest but it isn't a POS. Specs:

Windows 10

Intell Core 2 Quad CPU 2.4GHz

8GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForece 8800 GTS 512

Did I just waste $60 at Best Buy? ;-)

You need a GPU with 2GB of VRAM. Also that GPU is several generations out-of-date.

Would an out-of-date graphics card cause a crash before the game even launched? In my experience, an out-of-date graphics card simply causes games to run slowly.

Don't bother with Driver, your graphics card is completely outdated, aka it was good 8 Years ago. No amount of drivers will upgrade your hardware.

@OP

Note: This driver isn't listed for Windows 10, and 8 series cards aren't listed as supported. Use at your own risk. Judging by the poster, they are just spamming that comment with no additional information.

You have 1/4 of the required VRAM. It might 'run' the start screen if you use windowed mode and set a really low resolution.

Also your processor is a little too slow. Minimum spec processor is Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent

True but IMO, the CPU spec is less of a problem. 2.4GHz Quad Core should be fine.

That's exactly what should happen, run slowly. The crash is due to something else.

All people say on here is "upgrade your specs", when if they cared to look at any other posts, they'd see people with VERY high specs having the same issue.
