Crashing on startup. Yes, another one.

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 1:44 am

Sorry to add to the deluge, but could someone look at my dxdiag file and tell me if I'm missing something? My system should run the game but like others I haven't even seen a load screen yet, just crashing every start up. Please in the name of dog, advise!

The GT 330 is below the minimum requirements (550 Ti). Yes, it has 2GB of VRAM, but the speed of the GPU is at least half that of the 550 Ti.

So... I can't play the game with this card? Must say I've never encountered a game that you simply couldn't play if your rig didn't quite meet spec... rather annoying.

That being the case, any advice on what to upgrade to?

Well most likely you'll need to replace the power supply because if I am correct its a 450w PSU with 360w available on +12v (36A split between two rails).

So what would be your budget?

Suppose if I was gonna spend more than £200 on a card i'd just start thinking about getting a new pc altogether....

On the basis that other key hardware aspects of my rig are all getting borderline in terms of new games, bought this pc 6 or so years ago and have made no upgrades. more than £200 on the card and it'd probably be better in the longer term just to go all out.

You could get medium settings with a Geforce 750 Ti of Radeon R7 370, which should be around 100GBP, but you'll most likely need a new power supply which could be another 60USD (don't know the price in GBP). Should be less than 200GBP overall (although I don't know the UK electronics market).

You should be able to upgrade just the GPU "if" you get a Nvidia GTX 750 or GTX 950. They have very low power requirements. Any other GPU will require a new power supply of at least 650w or better.

The issue is just not the card, the game crashes or doesn't launch on many computers even if they met the minimum spec (or over the recommanded ones).

The game have issues that need to be fixed and we don't even have an ETA on it (or know if bethesda will care to look at them...)

Do like me : ask to be reimburse on steam. And wait the day there is a real fix to try the game on your setup with someone else account (or any other method).

Cool thanks for the advice.

And just for the sake of argument, if I'm thinking about getting a new pc altogether... willing to spend a decent amount on something that will keep on top of new games for the next several years...? This HP has served me pretty well, having spent £1k on it around 2009, would that spend still sort me out?

My geforce 840m also is "not good enough" for fallout 4, as I was said, but I can play it smooth, on minimum+ settings or even medium- .

So it's not your fault. What I recommend you to do, and what have helped for me was uninstalling nvidia game ready drivers. And installing the oldest one you can find http://www.geforce.com/drivers. And you should set the resolution of the game to be the same as your desktops.

Tell me if this helped.

And here's another question... as someone who doesn't have an advanced understanding of system specs... looking at my dxdiag and looking at the generally published system reqs for the game... do you think I was perhaps given short shrift on what the game actually requires? was it unreasonable of me to have compared my basic system info and thought i could have played this game without issues?

Sorry, but people with much better cards (980 gtx for example and TITAN X) are having the same problem. Upgrading your card might help, but it's not a 100% thing. There's something very wrong with the coding in this game.

As I found for myself it's not GPU problem. It's the problem of drivers, and when I turned off my graphic card in nVidia control panel, I was able to play Fallout 4 on the integrated graphics. It was 2-5 FPS, but it was working.

You need to have a dx11 graphic card to run the game, Fallout 4 requires dx11 to run, your graphic card does not support dx11 and as such can't run it?
