Everyday I'm stuttering...

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 3:12 am

Game constantly stutters. During intro movies, during menu screen, load screen, and any gameplay. I get ~ 1 second of smooth, followed by a stutter, repeat to infinity. It does not seem to matter if I set my settings to low or ultra, it's smooth to stutter. I tried using a driver cleaner and re-installing newest drivers, disabling v-sync, using windows borderless, setting Windows 7 theme back to Aero, nothing has worked.

I am using Windows 7, 64-bit, Intel i7 930 @ 2.8 Ghz, 2x - Geforce GTX 970s in SLI, 16 Gb Ram, 2x 1Tb 7200rpm 6GB/s hard drives in Raid 0, 1920x1080 @ 120hz monitor.

Anyone have suggestions? The stuttering is so bad that the game is completely unplayable.

i have seen some post about sli. guy had two same cards but their clocks on gpu and vram were different. he used nv inspector to overclock and downclock both cards to match clocks and he was ok then. search forums you will find it, maybe thats your problem also

yeah i know they have problems but with pc theres allways stuttering issues related to vsync, they get nice smooth 30 fps but if i try cap my fps at 30, boy am i in for a fking stutterfest

also the odd crash and glitch i dont mind but when it stutters every fking minute it unplayable, the fps drops are unaceptable though, this gen has been so bad so far for consoles, my firends says he doesnt even notice the frame drops in corvega factoy, i do envy that blind sob, hes only ever played on consoles so is obvlivious to it, though i do find it hard to belive he doesnt notice it, i mean you cant even aim properly

set shadow distance to medium and disable fps limit with this tool http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/102/?

disabling fps limit will make lockpick menu work very fast, and can break computer hacking. stuttering may go away

ps. fps lock is tied to vsync. dont force vsync in driver settings or it will have no effect,

i suggest not to touch cpu priority and number of threads

For me it needs to be locked to 30 fps as that the average frame rate for me, if I was to uncap it would go anywhere from 20 to 60, I cannot stand a fluctuating frame rate, locking to 30 means I get absolutely no drops but still get stutter, I obviously get drops in the broken parts like corvega

Try going in the pc bios and force-enable pci-express gen3. At the very least it will be one less thing to check off the list of possible culprits.

@ crippknottick perhaps that's my problem... I have an ASUS P6X58D-E LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6GB/s motherboard. It has PCI-express 2.0 x 16 slots, when the witcher 3 came out I replaced my old Radeon HD 5850 cards for 2 - Nvidia GTX 970s which are PCI 3 slots. I tried reading up on if that would cause me problems or not and it seemed like all the information pointed to them working fine, and so far they have without any problems at all. Witcher 3 went from struggling on lowest settings to smooth as butter on ultra.

I was actually trying to look in the bios yesterday to see if there was anything that stands out... Hmm.

As far as problems with SLI mentioned above... I have tried disabling SLI and received the same problem. I also tried running NV Inspector and both had the same clock speed anyways. And I already looked into Vsync and FPS locking, didn't help any :(
