Slo-Mo Executio- EXECUTIVE hits?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 7:00 am

From what I have played, there is a Slo-Mo bullet when you get a lucky last shot or crit worthy of being watched as it smashes into the skull or left leg of your enemy.

Will the executions be just as boring and anti-climactic as Fallout 3 and NV?

Or will we have 'somewhat' Skyrim style executions for all fighting styles? I'd rather watch my guy get all confident in his abilities, take a step forward... and pose badassedly as he points his pistol at dat ass...face... then fire a single shot that blows a hole through his face - his brain just gone in that cavity. Or just rip off the arm of an assailant and then bat his head off with it... I mean... if you have 10 strength... why not?

Perhaps I'll have to rely on modders for seamless VATS Executions.

I'm pretty sure we'll just get better versions of what was in Skyrim. I was a fan of the archery cam myself, even if it wasn't perfect. I'm sure guns with scopes will look more stylized than SMG cams. VATS for melee will just play out where you target your enemy with a final kill animation probably being picked at random without caring which part of the enemy you chose in VATS.

The question is will we get kill animation cams even without VATS and can we turn them off? They'll probably just be for the last enemy anyways. I love kill cams, but I don't think it would be fun if you're sniping more than 1 enemy and have it perfectly timed only to be interrupted by a kill cam on the first enemy; the only exception being if VATS was used.

i mean, i'm guessing there will be finishers for the melee weapons like skyrim

i don't see a reason why that wouldn't at least be toggle-able

but no, i don't want anything like that 'posing' bit for guns

that would get old just as fast as a slo-mo bullet follow, and i see a good potential for infuriating problems like posing and shooting a wall you were close too, stepping off a ledge in an animation if you were perched there sniping, hilarious distances closed as the game tries to move you for a pose and not clip you into/ in front of something, etc.

You don't step forward. You move your right leg forward, pull the left leg back, tilt your head back - then turn the gun sideways and instead of simply a bullet flying into their head... you get a mass of blood, brains, skull-bits blasting out the back of their skull.

"He turned it sideways! It's a killshot!"

That sideways junk has got to be the most ridiculous nonsense ever generated by any generation... ever. It's physical slang that directly reflects the lack of firearm knowledge.

It's right up there with "shizzle".

I'll have to add that if the "executions" were boring, perhaps the player behind the gun is partially at fault? Just how "exciting" should a camera shot be of your ho-hum 203rd sneak critical of a Feral Ghoul Roamer?

Yes, the melee and archery kill cams of the Skyrim patches were definite improvements, but even those become "boring" after you've done it 300ish times....

So do you have anything constructive to contribute, such as a better alternative in terms of a badass pose? Or are you just here to hate on something for no stated reason. I find it amusing that you have the audacity to call something ridiculous nonsense without even providing a reason as to why it is so. If it is just your opinion, then tell me why it is your opinion.

I am intrigued, enlighten me.

Edit: Back on topic. I'd like to say that guns aren't the only topic of discussion here. I want to see better melee executions... like a neck snap while in sneak instead of just a mediocre dagger/sword throat-slit animation.

In most cases, but not all. Holding a gun sideways does have practical applications, particularly letting you use the recoil to help you sweep a room. Sure, accuracy by and large goes out the window, but sweeps typically aren't about precision in the first place. Then there are guns that have to be used sideways (like the Mauser C96), or are best used sideways in certain circumstances (AKs while lying prone).

So while it's usually stupid, there are times that it's actually a good idea.

It was constructive. I expressed my discontent for that animation to be in the game. Yes, it is on topic and no I don't have a "badass pose" suggestion as I am not required to submit one.

I think we both know exactly what I'm referring to and I thought it was obvious to omit a situational tactic like a 90 degree line of sight form prone. The MauserC96 does not have to be shot sidewaws, nor have I ever seen anyone needing to do that.

I will continue to dispute any notion of benefit to a sideways sweeping technique. You wont go through a military exercise dong that.

I should have specified I was talking about China's automatic variant/knockoff (Shanxi Type 17) of the Mauser C96, which was fired sideways in order to allow the muzzle jump to move the gun horizontally and at the next target rather than pulling the gun upwards and wasting ammo firing at the sky. It also solved the problem of casings being released vertically and causing the gun to jam. Tommy guns were also fired this way because of the same recoil issue.

As for military exercises, again, it would depend. If you're wearing a gas mask, you are going to be holding your gun at an angle in order to better use the sights. Same with police/military personnel using riot/ballistic shields that drastically reduce their field of view.

I'm just disputing the notion that holding a gun that way automatically means that the shooter has no idea what they're doing.

Yeah, no, our bullets will spit fireworks as they near the enemy and instead of blood, chocolate sauce and then leprechauns will dance a jig on the fallen enemy's chest, just to spice up our V.A.T.S. executions.

EDIT: Admittedly, some of the kill cams are pretty weak in Fo3. I did Crit-180-No-V.A.T.S. a Deathclaw center mass in midair once. Off a cliff. That should be the execution cam.

I'd want crit-kills and finishers to happen in real time without zooming in or going to slo-mo. Just let them happen as they happen while everyone goes about their business. That way you don't get interrupted and stupid [censored] doesn't happen while you're frozen and you can still enjoy them without getting tired of them.

Fallout NV had the huge problem that if you sniped one enemy you would get killcam and the enemies would use that time to detect you and start return fire or charge.

Skyrim solved most of this so it was only an issue then hunting non agresive animals like deer where the other in the group would run away.

Remove it from enemies at far lower level than you would solve this issue too.

That's exactly what it means. No matter how many situational tactics we theorize. If you want to throw up a 45 all gangsta style, then yes... you're an idiot.

I've played and aced through NV once, and it's been a while since then and I don't remember if that was the case or not, and now that you mention it, that's a design flaw indeed. Although I thought I had a few instances of consecutive headshots. Must be imagining things. At any rate, blowing a head off and getting a "ch-ching" is so satisfying lol.

What's wrong with bein' a gansta?

Ow... :dead: you hit me with the RP taser!

I am compelled to answer that question with an assured answer of, absolutely nothing.

BUT, it should only be implemented into a character with low Intel. :D
