This has been extensively talked about in several threads, like http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1522152-why-make-it-harder-for-us-to-tell-our-own-story/ and http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1521196-the-implications-of-a-pre-determined-character/. Now i know these are already locked, but the whole discussion on starting as a family man/woman is in there. Having another thread like this is likely to just make it fill up with more needless he-said she-said discussions and posible flame.
We wont know why we start with a married couple and a kid, except for naturaly it being story related, untill the game comes out.
married =/= straight... You can be gay and married with a children too. This was very common as homosixuallity wasn't legal and accepted.
Really?
No one has insulted you and has instead given you a very logical reason as to why Bethesda choose to do it this way.
^ This post here is pretty spot on.
In the era the game is set there was a very set ideal for the way a family should work
I would assume that being married with a kid would have some importance to the main story. When you consider that your baby's appearance is dependent on the looks of you and your spouse, I would assume your offspring is significant in some way. Bethesda creating such a feature for a minor character does not seem very likely.
Nah you could have a gay marriage of either gender in Modoc.
Why people think having that option is somehow integral to either a Fallout game or RPGs in general is beyond me.
Am I the only one who's going to try a few times making the most hideously ridiculous parents I can just to see how ugly I can make that baby?
This topic has been covered many times, this particular thread has been handled badly by some of you so I am closing it.
