Default names for husband and wife?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 5:43 pm

In the E3 demo, the wife is named Nora. Since naming your character happened after the initial character generation finished (and thus after you decide whether you're playing the male or female character), it seems like we only get to name our own character, and the spouse is stuck with a default name.

So, the wife is always named Nora. What do you think the husband's name will be if you choose to play as the wife?

My guess is Bucky Bartfurp.

The person playing the demo typed that in though, I don't think there was a default showing in the Name field before he did.

Come on now, no need to use Bart as the base of a name meant to be insulting... :)

My guess is Bob.

During E3 it was shown you could switch characters during creation. I'm guessing you will be able to alter both appearances and name them whatever you want.

He doesn't name himself while you can still switch characters, though. It was afterward, during the Vault-Tec questionnaire that he chose his name and set his SPECIAL stats. You can edit the appearance of both at the start, but once you leave the bathroom mirror you've chosen which one of them you will play as.

EDIT: I suppose it's possible that you could also name your spouse during the Vault-Tec part, and they just didn't show it in the demo to keep things moving along. Once that part of the demo was over, everyone had a name--you could see "Talk to Nora" when the cursor hovered over the wife, then Codsworth addressed the husband by name and mentioned Shaun the baby.

EDIT 2: If you can in fact name your spouse when talking to the Vault-Tec guy, then maybe the baby isn't locked in as "Shaun" like we've assumed. Codsworth was the only one to say his name (the wife just referred to him as "him" and "the baby"), and we already know Codsworth has all the extra voice recording for popular names. Hmmm...

EDIT 3: Scratch what I said above, the wife does say "I've got Shaun" when they're leaving the house. I'm back to believing that the spouse will have a fixed default name like the baby does.

I see. Maybe we'll be able to walk back up to the mirror and change again , or I guess it won't really matter.

Still looking into most likely names for the husband, but Nora is most probably a reference to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Eleanor_(SP-677).

My first thought ,and i saw a few other Batman fan's too think perhaps Nora was a nod to Vicktor FrIes (villain Mr. Freeze)wife.

As shes kind of a snow cone. Depending on the year of the comic.

What's the male equivalent of Nora? That could be it.

Or if Nora really is a reference then the male name could be a similar reference.

Edit: by reference I don't mean the motorboat one. Though that'd be funny.
