i know. But like I said, I prefer to use mods to do that for me. Don't want to type that every time I play.

A 1:6 ratio would seem to be a very good 'sweet spot' with regards to timescale. One hour of real-time would equal six hours of game-time. And so an in-game hour would take ten minutes of real-time to play out.
Ironically, this would tie in fairly well with what we see in the demo. At the time the detonations are announced, the clock inside the house reads ten-past-nine. When we see the same clock post-war in the trailer, the time is actually nine-forty-seven (which is consistent with Fallout lore). This gives us a 'real' duration of 37 minutes to reach the vault, which would equate to around 6 minutes if using a 1:6 ratio. This would allow enough time for events to play out en-route, including interacting with the gate guard on the way into the main vault area.
exactly ,slower and it kills the fun and starts seeming to drag on forever ,faster and you can't get anything accomplished (example from Fallout 3: walking from Fort Independence while over burdened to Megaton took 14 hours I started at 5am)
I am actually hopeful that this, as well as many other areas of gameplay, would have been moved into more 'sensible territory' for Fallout 4.
same here ,I'm especially happy they improved the first person mechanics (fallout 3 was playable in first person don't get me wrong ,but there was definitely room for improvement)
I'm guessing you don't have compulsive character creation disorder.
Anyway, the point is you never need to do it ever with a mod.
....trying to understand why anyone would do that. (As opposed to: drop some stuff. Take multiple trips on foot. Take multiple trips via fast travel. Open console and tgm. Anything seems better than walking a good distance encumbered.)
But, hey, that's just me I think the furthest I've gone at snail-speed was from Breezehome to the smithing anvil next door, while carrying the entire contents of my crafting chest. And just one repeat of that was enough to make me never want to do it again.
Indeed, but then... if only time had a function other than existing.
I would definitely like to see a slower time passage.
Skyrim was a big step forward regarding timescale as Bethesda finally lowered the speed of time passing for the first time in 4 games. The Skryim default of 20 was still lowered by me to my usual 10 but it still was encouraging to see them change it for the first time as it showed they needed to adjust it. Hopefully it will be lowered a bit more but it's not a huge deal if it isn't as I will quickly mod it as needed.
Morrowind default is 30 btw, that gets changed for me as well.
you don't wipe the outcasts out and then take multiple trips carrying the fort full of stuff back (I have the horrid luck of something waiting for me on the second trip so I started doing single trips.)
Wipe the Outcasts out? But ... how do yourself stocked up in 5.56 ammo if you do that?
Hell, I've been known to delay finishing the main quest because I don't want to remove my supply of Enclave Mark 2 power armor which is worth 248 rounds of 5.56 ammo to the outcasts.
Why not just use console - set timescale to xx?? I've been doing that with all of BGS's games... Oh and may I just add that having it set to 10 has never caused any problems and it feels quite good...
Unless the game has some sort of timed objectives, the Timescale they use is NOT a "huge issue". You may consider it a bigger issue than a casual console player (who likely doesn't even consider it), but it is in no way a game-halting bug or something that can't be worked around or even modded away.
I hate to break this news to you guys, but Bethesda is going to design this game to be enjoyable to the 80% casual players with the understanding that "huge issues" for hardcoe players will be "fixed" via mods. No doubt an option would be nice, but isn't it a simple text line in the ini files?
was running energy weapons on that play through (and they have a plasma rifle in the base )
and that helps console users how exactly? (and it's a big deal if you're tired of seeing night time everytime you exit a building, and no that's not a joke it never fails for me )
