Fallout 4 - PC user interface is poorly designed

After playing Fallout 4 for a few hours, I found myself getting annoyed at the control schema. My guess is that the controls were designed for the consoles and simply ported to PC.

Pipboy Controls

A very common use case is to bring up the map briefly to verify where you are. Currently that requires "M" then "Tab", which is inconvenient to do with your left hand. A better choice would have been a toggle design. "M" to open and a second "M" to close. The same idea applies to inventory ("I" to open, then "I" to close) and probably all of the other Pipboy activation hotkeys.

Scapping Junk in Settlement

I have scoured Sanctuary for scappable materials. That was a painful excercise, both mentally and physically (left wrist). Mouse to highlight, "R" to start scrapping process and "Enter" to finish it. Unless you have three hands, there is no convenient way to do this. At a bare minimum, put both scrapping keys on the left side of the keyboard. For more convenience make it be "R" + "R". My preference would be a singe keystroke "R", like the "Delete" key in most programs, combined with an Undo option in case you miss-click.

Scapping Junk in Inventory

Please, please, please add a keystroke inside the Pipboy inventory screen to scrap items for components. Make it only available when the character is in a settlement (like Sanctuary) to maintain versimilitude, but please make the option available. Dropping a massive load of small, hard-to-click junk onto the floor to scrap manually is not a quality experience. Alternately, make the Scapping Station a container that achieves a similar purpose.

Consistent Exit Key

In most situations (Pipboy / RobCo terminals), you use "Tab" to back out. However in settlement mode, you use "Esc" to exit the mode. And the phrase "Press Enter to Exit" kills my brain a little every time I see it. I can't tell you how many times I have uselessly hammered the "Tab" key or accidently brought up the pause menu. Please pick one key that means "I am done here" and stick with it consistently.

Undo in Building Mode

Building something costs resources. When you are forced to scrap it because it is misplaced, you do not get all of your resources back. Misplacing items ranges from annoying for abundant materials (wood) to show stopping for rare materials (circuitry). One option I would reccomend is allowing the player to scrap any item that they have built for full resource value. Pre-existing items are still scapped for their lesser values to maintain the material economy.

Add separating the melee and grenade key

BTW, you can scrap stuff by clicking R then E (slightly better then R then Enter)

You could make a new save and experiment first, and then load your proper gaming save to make it right this time.

So i don't see any major problem on this one.

It wasn't designed at all, they just assigned keys in place of buttons.

Oh, and "exit" is either Tab, or escape, or E, or... something else, I forget. And Tab does three different things in one place in the construction menu, so it basically never does the one you want.

This is *hilariously* bad. As in, it would be funny if it didn't cost money.

They just didn't bother.
