The implication is completely based on a whopping ONE alien log.

Where a guy is resisting attempts to give up launch codes.

The thought process is: "Aliens are stealing launch codes to nuke the Earth, so they clearly launched the nukes, which renders the whole "Great War caused by man" line to be a lie!!! :ahhh: "

Which ignores...

1. The whole "Abomination" sub-plotline.

2. The lack of corroborating evidence from anywhere else in MZ.

3. The fact that we don't have any solid evidence as to what's going on.

4. The fact that almost nobody else in the alien logs has any clue as to what's going on.

4.5. Even the guy who's ranting about the Alien Abominations. He sees the abominations, and as far as we know, assumes the worst.

What's most likely going on in the log is the guy sees he's under an interrogation, and assumes the aliens are after the codes. The aliens, who are known to zap people for not talking into the microphone, sees the guy is holding back, and starts zapping to get him to talk. To the guy, that's proof enough that the aliens are indeed after his launch codes and, well...

In the https://youtu.be/iJcuAau2RKA?t=2m1s Bethesda clearly defines Fallout as both a series revolving around humanity, as well as the apocalypse being a product of humanity's nature. This is also how the series was presented since its release in 1997. Mothership Zeta contradicts this in design, content and with the insinuation that the series is actually a product of some outside force.

In fact, virtually everything in the series from super mutants to ghouls to death claws is merely an extension of humanity and it's one of the common characteristics of the series since its inception and goes beyond borders such as studios developing the game. Aliens have no relation to humanity. They are an outside force that goes against the series.

I'm not saying the idea of aliens, the mentioning of aliens or even the presentation of aliens as Easter eggs is some horrid taboo. I really liked the Easter eggs in Fallout 1, 2, New Vegas and even the crashed ship in Fallout 3. As anything more I am heavily opposed.
