grown men getting excited about a video game

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 7:04 pm

lmao .. there is nothing to worry about.

My grandfather likes to play video games. Has played almost every system. Currently he is playing Elder Scrolls: Online for the PS4. He likes it. He is 61 years old. I don't find anything wrong with it. It's just like a movie, or music etc. It's entertainment.

My aunt's husband is 32 he likes video games as well.

Let's say I'm very over 35...

I collect cold war / 50s era "stuff" because of Fallout. I have a big shelf full of it. I have vacuum tube pin straighteners, vacuum tubes, rattlesnake rattles, caps, cold war pamphlets and ephemera, old canteens, bones, old electronics parts, an old wooden microscope case, some military patches, a couple old ammo crates, some stuff from Roswell "alien museum", etc. I collect anything that looks like it could generally fit into the Fallout universe, so my collection spans more decades than the 40s and 50s.

I need to add some old toys - maybe some "space age" robots tin wind-ups.

I may have a problem...

I should take pictures of all my stuff and put it online or something. It's fun for me but it'd be more fun if other people could see it too.

About a week ago I toured the USS Midway. It was hot and cramped and I hit my head on the ceiling pipes a lot.

What I wish I had was a swami napkin holder. I'll probably have to find one at an antique store that doesn't know what Ebay is to get an affordable price...

Does anyone else collect this stuff or am I the only one who went crazy?

I'm 47 my grandfather purchased the first "pong" game for me as a Christmas present in 1977..I was 9. Hell yes I got excited like any 13-16 year old that was bug eyed with a huge smile the whole Fallout 4 reveal. They will pry my keyboard and mouse out of my cold dead hands...going on 40 years as a gamer and I thank the heavens nearly everyday for companies like Bethesda that still give a [censored] about their customers enjoyment as much as they do the almighty dollar and I will continue to support them as long as I'm alive and they still make great games.

This has got to be one of the best threads I have ever read! And it just goes to show that gaming is no longer seen as being 'kids stuff', and is in fact embraced by a wide cross-section of normal(ish) advlts of all ages. And things will only get better as time goes on.

By the time we're all in our 100s, they'll most likely have surgical gaming implants. Let's just hope that the company who make them aren't called 'Vault-Tec'!

Skyrim was the first game I took days off work to play. In fact it was the first game I went to a midnight release for. Got my game and collector's guide at midnight ... drove straight home ... went to bed. Not sure I did that right but I did play the next morning. Just too old to pull those ole all nighters...

I must have entered my age wrongly in my haste to make an account to post. I didn't care about the questions. Let me see if I can fix it.

EDIT: Yup, I fixed it.

Also dude, stop being so hysterical, okay?

I will turn 40 two weeks before the game is released.

A 40 year old woman no less.

I work for myself and I WILL be taking at least a few days off to enjoy the game. As far as I am concerned November can't get here quickly enough.

Wo-man? What is that, some sort of superhero like bat-man? Anyway this thread was made for "grown men" the title didnt say "transgendered people getting excited about video games" but its a free world.
