Some stuff on the new trailers.

So Bethesda released two new video of the same gameplay footage we saw at E3. One of them being the Atom Bomb Combat video montage and the other being the Microsoft E3 demo. This time there is no voice from Todd or the audience which does help us examine things better.

One of the things I noticed right off the bat is that Codsworth apparently doesn't say "Mr Howard" this time in the demo when he sees the Sole Survivor unlike what we saw in the Bethesda Conference. Not sure if this means anything.

Ambient music sounds really calming and soothing compared to previous games.

Apparently we got somewhat of an extended footage with the fight between the player and the deathclaw. The death claw is as we all feared; incredibly powerful. One swipe from it's claws apparently reduces HP by 20% and that is a Player WITH A SUIT OF POWER ARMOR ON. It apparently does a headbutt attack too although the damage done there seems to be minimal. The AI of the deathclaw also seems to be enhanced as well since we could see it strafing side to side when the player was firing at it with a mini-gun.

The animations have really come to be last-gen finally. :fallout:

He doesn't call you Mr. Howard because the characters name is Phil Spencer in the footage shown, it was the xbox conference footage.

I think that gameplay demo was from the XB1 presentation, where the character's name is Phil Spencer.

What I really like is that we get a much better sample of the soundtrack and sound design. I really like what I hear.

Everything looked pretty good, especially the ambient music and animations, only thing I hate is how deathclaws are basically dinosaurs now, the the design from 3/NV was perfect IMO.

And watching it again I'm now reminded of those damn hitmarkers. Just... why? Is the health bar going down not enough to signify people taking damage?

Wow so no names recorded for either Phil or Spencer at this point? Come on Bethesda!

I'm almost positive they recorded for Phil and Spencer, but not Phil Spencer. The name recognition wouldn't be that smart.

That's the way I understand it as well. It won't recognize anything but first names, and some of those will probably just get a generic "Sir", "Madame", or "You" comment.

I wish the raiders displayed a higher sense of urgency to live, like seek cover against a dude wearing military grade power armor and toting a mini gun. You're slowly advancing towards them, barrels blazing, and the raiders just clump up or stand still. You don't need to be a genius to realize you need some heavy ordnance to dent that armor.

I like the new Deathclaws better. They look closer to their origins as genetically engineered Jackson's chameleons. I liked the design in 3/NV too, but they seemed a little too skinny, and their skin didn't really look reptilian. These guys look way more intimidating; I mean, were you watching the same footage of a Deathclaw running up and disemboweling the PC? And I really don't see the dinosaur thing.

Wouldn't it just be Mr. Spencer then. I'm sure the name recognition should know that that the name after the space is the surname unless of course you are using an Eastern Asian name.

Lol, there was that one random raider that did try to take cover behind a bag of sand barely high enough as well as that one guy hiding behind the structural support, but yea the first raider looks as if he was trying to take pot shots at you in the power armor or something.

To be fair, Deathclaws always looked a bit like dinosaurs to me.

They use first names. And not last names. And maybe your character is Phil Spancer Johnson. So both could be the first name and you don't use a last surname

You kind of said it yourself, they look a lot more reptilian, thicker and more scales/spikes which I equate to dinosaurs but I guess that's just me.

I'm more terrified by the sleek pale ones, new one looks like something I would want to cuddle with but once again that's just my opinion.

And you don't see the dino thing just a http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/15/jun/fall5b.jpg bit?

Yeah it would be nice to see them retreat...maybe it's because they're high on psycho or something? Perhaps other human opponents will place a bit more value on their own lives.

It wouldn't be much fun if everyone ran from you every time you were wearing power armor though.

Yeah, I thought raiders were blazed 24x7 and sort of suicidal due to machismo of being in a gang and/or being led by someone who would shoot them for retreating..

(Also, for game purposes, enemies that run away are actually not very fun to fight.)

Kind of. But the body shape is still more reminiscent of a chameleon than it is of, say, a T-Rex. The things that definitely separate them from dinosaurs, at least for me, are arms and the head; the arms are humanoid, and the head just looks downright demonic, like something out of Doom or Diablo.

Re looking the video again just notice that the raider actually tries to doge your bullets by zig zag like the deathclaw, so they have a form of trying to evade you while approaching you.

You also see a raider sneak peeking behind a pillar and taking pot shots at you.

Also when your approaching Garvey you see this guy on the terminal and screen is animated with numbers or letters etc.
